I must be braindead...

Thanks for the help yesterday, but I wasn't able to get it, so still need some help. I'm obviously missing something very simple, and probably in my face.

I've attached 2 screenshots of where I am in the canals level.

Shot one is the room I dropped in to from a a ventilation shaft that opens in the ceiling. A ladder in this room goes down to an open area below with water. On the right is a short hallway that goes to room #2, filled with pipes, a descending ladder, again with water below. This is attachment #2.

It is here that I guess I'm supposed to find a valve. I can't find it. I've been stuck here for several hours, stacking barrels. I'm really frustrated. Any help is greatly appreciated.

In the room #2 as you called it is a Valve that you need to turn. Just look, it is in there.

you have 2 jump onto the pipe above, then go down it and drop onto the other side of the fence

there are 2 ways, 1 you climb the pipes, or 2 you fill the room with water by using the valve

You guys are trying real hard to help me, and I appreciate it. But where the !#$%@ is that valve?!? I assume in the room with all the pipes? I can't find it!

If you mean to get on the balcony/walkway, I figured that out. What I can't do is find that dang valve to fill up the place with water.

In your second screeny, if you walk to the end of that gantry, turn left and look down, you can se that you can drop down in stages on the pipes. If you keep going down, you should be able to see the valve, it's mounted vertically on the big main vertical pipe...about 3 drops down, I think. It raises the water level.

Didn't some people report that they could'nt see it because there was a texxture mising or something? It might not be your eyes, it might be some kind of bug...but that's just a guess.

The valve you need to turn is just below the bottom of your second screenshot.

once the valve is turned, you can go to room 1 and swim through the red pipe. Don't forget the items in the vent in room 1 (you'll need to stack a barrel there to jump off up to the top pipe)

Check out the Route Kanal section of the walkthrough in my sig. It has a picture of the pipe room. In that picture, you can see the valve you need to turn. Its inthe dead center, about 2 inches from the bottom of the picture.
