Fact: I've never played a Half-Life game.
Okay, well, that's sort of a lie there. I've played the first one, and a demo for the second one. But I only played around 10 minutes of each. Did I like them? Yep. Did I love them? Well, I didn't play enough to decide such, but I did see that they were very good games. Interesting, too.
But, my predicament lied in the fact that, well, my PC sucks -- at least, on the gaming front. Last week, my PC died. Problem is, I'm in college, and you just can't do college without a PC these days. So I decided, of course, that it was time for a new one. I needed one just for school, yes, but I decided -- ah hell -- why not go all out and get a good gaming rig while I'm at it?
I had one custom built from ibuypower.com for around $900. Pentium D, 3.0 ghz; 1024 MB RAM; Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS (512). I already have a good LCD monitor and a decent speaker system so I just decided to not bother with new ones (yet). And after I realized, hey, this should play just about any PC game out with decent results, I knew it was time to finally get into Half-Life. Of course I'll start with the first one and then get the second, but I'm just happy to finally be able to play these games. I know my previous PC could have played the first one no problem, but I just never got around to it. But I will now.
And while trying to find out how good my system would play Half-Life 2, I ran across this site. The forums seem good, so I registered, blah blah blah.
Anyway, it's nice to be here and I'm pretty excited about playing the games.
Welcome me, or something.
