Ice-skate map for css please

hey there
would you all like to see an ice skate map too?
sort of like a wide flat rounded area with 0 friction, letting you use knives only. youd be able to gain insane speeds easily and stab opponents in the back.
unfortunately i cant map. so i was rather hoping im inspiring someone to do it instead.
 
1) Wrong forum
If you want someone to make a map for you or help you make the map, post it in Help Wanted And Offered. But don't make a new thread, just wait for a mod to move this one. Next time, think before you start a new thread.

2) Make it yourself.
You would feel better knowing that you made the map yourself, and any maps you want to see in future, you could just make rather than starting up threads in the wrong place on these lovely forums :)
 
sorry. i thought general editing has to do with anything related to Half-Life 2 editing.
and i guess i wouldnt post it if i could create a map
 
Well, really, for what you asked, it should be in help wanted and offered. But, it's more the fact that, you should create your own maps, and earn some street cred for it. I don't think many people will use other peoples ideas very often.

Try breaking open hammer and making something, and post to let us know if you need help, or some c&c. Just be sure to post it in the right place :).

You have to change the material properties with a text editor like notepad. Basically I don't know how to do it and it's beyond what I'd call simple map editing - you'd need to find something that just told you exactly what to change, because learning what every line of those files does is probably beyond the scope of someone who just wants to make a simple, fun map like this.
 
i might give it a try. material properties of what? wheres that file you speak about?

I believe it's in the sdkcontent/bin folder... but that's about 10% sure-ness factor, and I have no idea what to do with it. I think you also (in addition to adding an entry to that) need to create the texture and its accompanying text file so it can be used in Hammer. Hopefully someone else can show up and tell you what to do, I don't even know where to start looking.
