I'd love to play as a vortigaunt.

They are my favorite species from half-life 2, very charismatic and full of Dali-Lama type incite (sp?) The game could explain all the proficies of Xen and could explain the relationship between the xenonites and combine / humans in more detail. If I could see one species have more of a background in the half-life universe it's Xen, while Half-Life and it's expansions provided some information I'd like to see more of they're home planets.

I personally loved the Xen scenes in half-life immensely, it seemed to be the parts of the game Valve's wasen't afraid to confine us the the limits of the an earth bound boringness, not to say earth is boring in Half-Life Xen is just my favorite part of the saga. I know there was a mod at some point where you play as a vorty (links anyone i'd like to play ) When Valve said i'd be able to become emmotionally attached to characters in it's games as much as in Novels etc. I wish they meant that to it's fullest extent because while the physical gestures and jokes seemed very human character development was slim to none except in subtle hints here and there.

I dont want overt rpg style story telling but i'd like to see an expansion of some sort with maybe readable books on desks or something (myst style?) where you could read about the history of life on Xen, i'd be the first person in line to buy a book about the half-life universe. But back on topic i'm thinking about writing a Fan Fic about Xen, and would like some feedback on happenings that we already know about (i've forgotten alot) For some reason ever since I was a little kid i've loved the vortys

There was a mod for the original Half-Life called Point Of View, where you played as a Vortigaunt. It's not HL2, but it's still something. It wasn't half bad either.

Well, the Vort's have a new mission now... help the resistance and make revenge on the combines. it would be cool if you'll play as a vort where you help Dr.Freeman and the rest of the resistance.

Actually, I beleive they are. There's evidence of that. For example, you never hear a Vortigaunt refer to himself as "I" - it's always "we". The Vortigaunts were hive-minded then, and I think they're hive-minded now. Why would the Nihilanth have had anything to do with it? Besides, it also says that they're hive-minded in Raising the Bar.

Actually i beleive they are share a sort of psychic link and as a result are not very single minded creatures as opposed to when they were under the influence of Nihilianth and therefore part of a true hive mind.

The vortugaunts are really cool in hl2 - wish there was Point Of View Source, that would be a treat. Then again, being a strider would be better...

I am actually, planning a mod, still in discussions however, where you play as a vort, although i was sorta thinking about scrapping it somewhat and turning more towards a resistance fighter because of the limitations of bieng a vort.

But hey if this much people are interested in playing one i might as well go ahead with it

To late guys. We are already creating a Vorti mod right now, it is being well developed by V17 team.

Our site is not finished and sort of empty, but screens and more info will come up later.

Our Modeller had some problems with his tools, so right now, we are looking for GOOD modellers, who have great experience with modelling.
