GLaDOS mentions that she's "the only thing standing between us... and them. Well... I was..."

Could the "was" part be referring to Gordon? Up until Gordon showed up, she was the only thing standing inbetween Earth and the Combine.

Not diss on you but it would make no sense if the resistence was actively against GLaDOS because i think we can all agree that they have enough on their plate to be going after some abandoned reasearch facility.

That's possible. But then anything's possible. The was could have referred to the fact that everyone's dead and captured, so it doesn't really matter anymore.

its obvious in GLaDOS's speech during the end of portal is talking about whats going on outside.. i wonder if Chell will actively join the fight! A female silent protagonist for Gordon to play with and Alyx to get jealous over...

I think it was left pretty deliberately ambiguous, though interesting. I'll just assume GLaDOS is talking out of her nonexistent ass until proven otherwise. I hate being wrong about game continuity.

I get the feeling she meant Chell - GlaDos was the only thing keeping the combine out of aperture labs. Of course, with Chell ripping everything apart, GlaDos wasn't anymore - its good that the facility blew up though, the idea of an interdimesnional incredibly vast alien empire with the kind of tech in Aperture labs is quite terrifying.
