interesting evolution discussion

so i have discussed this thoroughly in other threads and its quite an intereseting subject. point is, do u think evolution exists?

i dont think evolution is real. people are made of cells and tissue and stuff like that. so if evolution was real, we would have same cells and genetic stuff as animals for example, because we supposedly developed ourselves from animals. i think we just slowly formed from little bits, slowly building to full human form. maybe we were just a small cell in an ocean first?

but religion isnt' welcome in this thread so please dont start talkign about it here becaus this is an operational thread about evoluton! to all who believe god invented humans, i say only this: why did other animals exist first? why did god make trees and plants first, then fish, then dinosaurs, monkeys and last humans? why didn't god just skip those and invent humans first?

Yes.

Our cells are identical to almost all animal cells save for the specific genetic code within each cell. It is the organization of cells, that is, the embryology of each animal, which determines what animal it will be.

If "we" refers to life on earth, then yes. The first organisms were single-celled prokaryotes (bacteria) in the ocean. Over time, natural selection favored more complex, stable systems like nuclei, multicellularity, and organelles. Natural selection is a simple process, favoring tiny, ad-hoc changes which over billions of years cause massive changes in populations.

Your first good argument. The argument from homology. Indeed, why would there be a recognizable "lineage" of animal species, with obviously re-tooled parts and a trend of increasing complexity, if they were created all at once? Why would the fossil record show the gradual change of species, the dying out of populations, and the geographic digression of animals? Why would animals share many of the same parts and have most of the same genetic code?

In fact, this is the argument which first led Darwin to hypothesize about evolution, and is still the underlying argument of evolution today.

There is nothing that pisses me off more than some fool with the arrogance to think that he is qualified to deside that an idea, that all serious biologists with PhD's and degrees know to be true is false. Well if understood properly, that is entirely logical (I am not sure how exactly she phrased it).

We study the nature of the world, and we can't find any physical means by which an external God can intervene in our lives. Scientifically (and I hate using that word but can't think of a better one), there is no measurable force or medium for God to act through. But the universe we know does follow physical laws which we are beginning to understand (events are not just randomly tied together). Everything influences everything else according to a certain pattern. And that means that all present and future events are determined from past events according to these physical laws or vice versa.

And if you wonder where those laws that govern reality came from, there is no good answer really. Why is pi what it is? Why is the strong nuclear force what it is? Why does reality exist at all? It just is because if it wasn't like that, we wouldn't exist and none of us would be here to ask these questions. It's kind of like a closed self reinforcing loop. You can define what is external to reality in whatever arbitrary words you like (it is arbitrary because it is not real), but God is as good a word as any other. I don't mean in a personified deity sense, but in the sense that reality can be placed in some larger objective context. And in that sense, the fundamental basis of the universe is our (your/my) perception and experience which therefore necessitates the existence of humans and the path to our evolution.

Why did no one else notice this? That pretty much IS evolution. We (as in ALL life) started off as simple life forms, then slowly, through many MANY generations came to our current form. Thats as layman as evolution gets, and yet you still cant even tell what you're talking about.

Well, if evolution is true, then there couldn't have possibly been an act of special creation in the garden of eden. If there was no garden of eden, there was no original sin. If there was no original sin, there was no point for Jesus coming to Earth in the first place, and thus Jesus serves no theological purpose.

That's why Christians don't like evolution. It undermines the whole house of cards that holds up the religion.
