Invisible Cross Hairs

I don't know if it's just the Gamma setting on my monitor, but does everyone else have trouble seeing the cross hairs in Half-Life 2? Is there a way to have them show up better?

one thing i do is go into the OPTIONS menu and click MOUSE, in that menu theres a box that says mouse help info or something like that, it says it will list ur health and ammo on ur crosshair, click that and it makes ur crosshair bigger also.
