FEATURES:

* In addition to a limited edition DVD-ROM version of Half-Life 2, this Collector's Edition also includes Counter-Strike: Source, the next generation of the #1 online action game; Half-Life: Source, digitally remastered version of the original critically acclaimed PC game; Free Limited Edition T-shirt (Offered In Men's Size XL Only); and Half-Life 2 Prima book with information on character backgrounds, the making of the game and more than 100 pieces of artwork.

some other sites have the strategy guide in place of the "making of book". so which one is it? and what does the T-shirt look like? I hope it isn't an all black shit with Hl2 Logo on there somewhere.

I got the Gold Package. See if you buy it online you dont get Cd's but you can back up files to disk since steam made a backup tool

The t-shirt is all black, with a white HL2 logo on it. The Prima guide isn't the full art book either; it's a sampler with a couple chapters from the strategy guide and one chapter from Raising the Bar.

Personally, I don't think the CE is a good buy at all, but I'm going to get it just because I want HL:S and a box with a DVD (don't have a burner so I can't make my own; btw Homie the backup tool wasn't made by Valve it was made by someone in the community). Plus, I like the plain shirt w/ the logo...but realistically, you're basically paying an extra $30 for that shirt when you know Valve is going to sell them--along with other t-shirt designs that've been seen in pictures taken by people visiting Valve HQ--for like $18 later. Plus, if you want the full books, that's $20-40, depending on if you want one or both.

thanks! I will most likly pass on the CE, although the whole thing on DvD and HL1 source souinds good. but will deffinitly order the raising the bar book with loads of concept art?

BTW how do you know this darkside?

I Think so

I think the CE is worth it, simply because you get HL:source, CS:source, and HL2, all on one DVD. The shirt and guide are a rip, but the fact that I get HL:source, and only ONE disc is the kicker. I have so many discs, and only so many more slots on the disc-holder tree, not to mention all the bulky 3-4 disc holding cases, that I can't put in the tree. Be aware however, that it isn't in a standard DVD case, i.e. Pacific Assault: DR's cut, it's in a standard jewel case, but it is worth it. :naughty:

Well if my CE actually let me play HL2 HL:S or CS:S I would be happy with it. I did get 2 HL2 shirts though from EB one black and one white. I like having HL2 and HL:S on 1 DVD and the little book has really neat pictures of the enemies in the game. But I cant play HL2 because it wont read the DVD. It seems almost everyone that has the CE cannot play HL2. Its too late for me to return it now, Steam has my login name and CDkey and everything in already. Sux to be me.

NOT WORTHIT, i regret it but am wearing the shirt right now

not worth it unless you really want the tshirt and dont have a dvd burner... i wish i had gotten the steam gold, but oh well... i got three excellent games, an okay shirt, a shitty box and thick manual with pictures (sampler book)

80, no tax, and free overnight... im kool, but a little steamed (lol) after seeing the euro tin ce

a few questions

how big really is the t shirt? and it doesnt even have an embroidered logo ie made with threads? its only printed?

is the metal box any good?

btw in europe since hl2 is dvd standard, there goes another reson for buying it.

otherwise I'll just get retail and raising the bar. though I do want a dvd, I dont think the collectors edition is worth it.

btw how about a petition on the site telling valve that we're not happy with the CE? they're supposed to listen to the fans, lets see if we can geta a response.

I got the CE. All up and running been busy playing so haven't said much. I like the HL2 T-shirt. It only comes in black and XL. I guess because they can't check your size prior to shipping(Xl works for me as I like being able to wear a sweat shirt under my T). If it came standard as a DVD I would have just gotten the retail, but I wanted HL Source too. I have way too many multiple CD cases, and not enough storage spaces for them.
