I havent seen this and 100% sure this is new. I was doing my late night surf the web to get me sleepy and low and behold it paid off....

Whats doom's release date world wide? 8/13 isnt it?

Check this!

http://www.gamestop.com/search.asp?...eyword=half+life&platform=0&find.x=0&find.y=0

After typeing in half life into gamestops searcher it revealed a 2 new products which imediatly stuck my attention. one being:

Half-Life 2 Mod-Maker's Guide
Platform: PC
Publisher: Prima Publishing
Category: Books
ESRB Rating: None
SET FOR:Pre-Release 10/26/04

But the one that gets my mouth drueling is this one:

Half-Life 2 Raising the Bar
Platform: PC
Publisher: Prima Publishing
Category: Books
ESRB Rating: None

Set for what date you might ask? None... other.... than... The day that doom 3 goes world wide! 8/13/04!

What did ID due to get us thinking gold? They put a crap load of supposed "leaked" images of their marketing stuff.

Is Valve useing prima as their way into our heads?

Actually, I believe the Doom 3 release is set for 8/5/04.

In america it ships on the 3rd, but it shows up in stores on the 5th (unless you have dumbass employees putting it out on the 3rd)

No. If valve wants to screw with us they'll just get Lombardi to shovel some more shit into the fire.

what does two guides have to do with hl2's release date?

We are just going to have to wait for reviews for both Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 to tell which ones better.

one dumbass employee here - i will buy it as soon as it's officially released
which i thought was midnight 8/2 ?

Holy shit dude I almost fell off my chair laughing. Thank you.

Wow, baseless speculation centered around inaccurate information and Prima publications I've known about for months and months. This is the best. This is better than a jellyfish full of chocolate milk.

Sorry, I'm tipsy. I'll go to bed now.

Yup, this website is getting depressing, but check out the planetdoom.com forums, everyone there is bloody ecstatic.

with good reason.
imagine these forms when the eagle lands, and lets slip the golden dogs of war.

Hmmm? yes go to sleep.

And who the hell buys these things anyway?

I've become a victim of the hype for Doom 3. I'd cancelled my pre-order months ago as the release date appeared to be getting further and further away.

After reading the 'review' and just seeing the general reaction, I've given in and re-ordered it. I think it's just one of those games you simply have to get if your an FPS gamer. Much like Half Life 2 will be and Unreal Tournament 2004 was.

o.O sounds interesting..... Currently, my moneys on this http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...002-3007165-4553603?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Strange why they release the game guide even before the game is released.

Why do you guys care so much? I don't get it. Is it really that hard to understand that it depends on personal opinion on which game is better? I am going to go cry for you guys now... so sad..

The word from id is that the ship day is the 2nd while the official arrival day is the 5th. There is no restriction on retailers selling before this date. Makes you wonder what the point of an official retail date is for then? I guess it has to do with promises to reatailers: 'every retailer will get it by this date'. I think though that internal distribution within a chain retailer might mean it gets to your particular branch later.

Im not planning to get doom when it releases but im partaking in a lot of pleasure seeing HL2 fanboys panic.

after months and months and months of bitching about Doom3 it comes around and bites them in the balls.

classic.

No kidding!!..I can't knock Doom 3 as it is definitely going to punish mah shiny new 6800 GT ...I started visiting the planetdoom forums earlier last week when I heard about most of the retailers lining up the release date to the 1st week of August..Wednesday was really fun to watch as people that had waited years for the release were goin nuts..hope that day comes soon here as well, my PC has room for both Doom 3 and Half Life 2 (both awesome games in their own right)..

Im going to laugh so hard when HL2 nuts go "OMG OMG DOOM3 is OUT! HAX WALL HAX LOOKZORZZ OMG DIE KTHNX" and then they die lolz kthnx bu-bye. LOLZ. :)

I won't even think about buying Doom 3 until I play a demo. From what I've seen, its nothing but a glorified tech demo, but I'm willing to be put wrong.

On the same link (first post in this topic), if you go to the bottom of the page, it lists TFC2 - release in Jan 2005. ??? It shows screenshots. Are these the old screenshots from when they were going to do TFC2 for HL1, or is it with Source? THe faces aren't too great if it is with Source.
??? Anyone know?
