he hasn't got The Jaw to pull it off. pass.

judge dredd movie was amazing, **** everyone.

Lack of jaw and huge shoulder pads is a downer, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

I like the body armor, more realistic.

dredd is anything but realistic, though. i only just noticed they have reimagined the suit and i ****ing HATE it when studios get all over original designs and try to ''bring them upto date'' with todays audiences re: watchmen movie character redesigns. STRAPS AND POUCHES, YEAH. i bet all the ****ing guns in this have rails and pointless, gimmicky gun-nut masturbatory add-on's as well.

all that said, i re-read the article and if it's the screenwriter from 28 days later and sunshine, that's pretty promising.

In watchmen, did you really want to see the comedian in a gimp suit? Huh?

well, i didn't want to see the comedian full stop, as i didn't want a watchmen movie in the first place, but that's another story...

Knut, man I know Dredd is far from realistic, I've read some the comics, the whole eastern commie mega-city war issues, ghost Judge Death, parallel universes and what not, but lets disclose the fact that the comic version of the suit has been done in 1995, it looked ridiculous, it serve no real protection in the violent future, sure if it was animated movie, it would be fine, cause animated stuff can take alot of source material from the comics, which is handy and dandy, but a general live action movies, it becomes a blurred line, like if it was portrayed as a fantasy with more elements paranormal (judge death) I'd accept it, but when you get those storylines of gitty urban law officer then you gonna make the choice, is the general movie goer going to take the character seriously wearing this (pic below)

over this?

Like, not every person going to see this movie will be a hardcore fan, but then again haters gonna hate, so its personally preference, meh.

1. I didn't want to see that movie at all

2. Yeah.

I think the only 'blurred lines' here are those in your post, between your vague notions of "fantasy with more paranormal elements" and "gritty urban law officer". In the universe of Dredd, they are a part of the same foundation.

Helmet looks weird. Looks like his vision is obstructed by those red metal whatevers.

you confuse me with someone who wants it to be a remake of what was established in the movie, when in actual fact i'm a comic fanboy, so wouldd prefer for the nice inbetween design that isn't cheap bad 80's spandex or gritty call of duty-kids realism. I WANT COMIC.

though really, i think the funny/ironic thing about my whining is that dredd in comic form has pouches and straps and all sorts of other stuff... it's just these days, i really can't take it very seriously when i know it's there to simply make people look that more gung-ho and badass.

Would you have preferred Wolverine and Co. in their colorful spandex suits instead of the approach to costumes that they made in the movies?
I don't think so. It's one of the reasons why the 2006 Superman movie didn't work for me. That and the fact that they tried to pay "homage" to the Chris Reeve movies. Anyway. Spandex may work in animated movies but it looks laughable and downright idiotic in an actual film.
That helmet and suit look like actual protective gear instead of useless cosmetic pieces.

Also, don't judge a movie by a one still, people. First impressions can always be deceiving. Not that it really matters to me but for all we know that picture could be from a early costume test. The suit may have gone through a several changes during production. My only concern is the lack of chin under that helmet.

people need to stop presuming that i'm okay with other superheroes being translated from illustration to big screen in any way, shape or form. i'd be pretty happy if no comic ever was turned into a movie, as much as i enjoyed the original judge dredd movie if only for how ridiculous it was. i couldn't even care for x-men on paper, let alone the films.

again, though, yes... yes i would prefer the films to be more akin to the comics. if we can take it seriously on paper, i see no reason why to dumb them down for hollywood and it's audience. people are obviously going to lap it up though, as we see here...

Oh, get of your high horse. The original Judge Dredd movie never claimed to be anything more than a big dumb flashy sci-fi action movie, and as far as I'm concerned it succeded at it. If I was as rigid as you with my "standards", I would also have to hate almost all Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, wich are just as campy/chessy/ridiculous as the Dredd movie was.

Some high standards you have.

i am not going to take this seriously coming from you, twwix, but irregardless, i said in the post just above that i enjoyed the film for how ridiculous it was. i'm going to presume you have never read the dredd comics? they're pretty far-fetched and over the top. it's a grim, cess-pit city of greed and corruption, only barely held together by a fodder of police officers who have the law in their own hands. the very premise is ridiculous, and that's what's so great about it if you ask me. the movie was by no means amazing, but i enjoy it in the same vein that i enjoy, say, the robocop movies.

gonna go back and say it AGAIN: i'd be quite happy if the original film never existed, because AGAIN, i don't agree on comic-to-movie adaptations one bit.

i don't even know why you quoted me on that, either. it's like you saw no other way to reply to my post except to go back into the thread and say ''yeah... well... you said this [about something completely off-topic re: costumes and design]''

Where do you see me saying that campiness, cheesiness etc. is bad? That may be your twisted viewpoint, it's not mine.

Anyway. There's bad adaptations and then there's bad movies. I don't know what the original movie claimed to be but it definitely succeeded at being both.
Another fine example of that is the recent Wolverine movie. You have films such as Tim Burton's Batman and Bryan Singer's X-Men which may not be the most faithful adaptations but they are certainly good movies. I'd rather have a good film than a faithful recreation of a comic book.

OK then please explain to me why it's a bad movie. Is it Stallone's "acting", the script, what? As for it being a bad adaptation, I wouldn't know, since I've never read the comics.

All of the above. If you want more in depth thoughts, read one of its countless negative reviews. I happen to agree with most of them.
Also, please don't compare RoboCop to that travesty. One is a cult classic, the other one's a classic turd.

I found the original movie funny. That was its point, right?

See now, in my opinion the Judge Dredd movie was done in exactly the same over the top, ridiculous manner as Paul Verhoven movies, so yes the comparison is valid. The same faults present in Judge Dredd are also present in: all RoboCop movies, Starship Troopers, Total Recall. Yet those are cult classics and this one is trash. I make the argument that they are ALL trash, but I like them anyway.

I've seen a better Judge Dredd on the replica prop forums, he made a fake chin attachment and everything.
