Team Fortress isn't that hard on newbies as CSS is. I'd just join a game and play along. You might want to start off as Scout, Soldier or Pyro to begin with, they're pretty easy to get the hang of. When you feel comfortable, try some of the others.
Just follow other members of your team around, you should be fine.
Just try all classes and find out which style of combat you are most comfortable with. Then use that the majority of the time. Also, make sure the class you pick is one you find humerous, otherwise you may get abit Pissed off.
I would also play with you, if I could actually play a decent game of Team Fortress 2...
You can try all classes but I really think for a beginner its best to save the engineer, medic, and spy for last. As you are playing other classes pay attention to what the medic, engineer, and spy are doing so you are more at ease when you do begin playing those classes.
I played TF2 for the first time last sunday, and I got the hang of it pretty quick. Save the Spy for last though...that's the most tricky one if you're new to the game.
To me, all the others were as straightforward as they come, but if you really want a good beginners class, I'd say the Scout is probably your best bet...there isn't really anything to go wrong playing him.
Yah, I heard soilder was the easiest to start off with. Spy is one of those classes that takes a LONG time to truly master. I have also noticed that (perhaps because I play it so often) that I can almost always make out enemy spies. In general, I find that if you play a class alot, you know how to combat that class much better; seeing as how you know its weaknesses well.
A few tips:
1.Stay together, safty in numbers.
2.If you play Pyro, puff teammates with the Flamethrower. You might just find a Spy.
3.Check your butt, there has been many times where I turned around, and a Spy slashed me across the face. KAA-BOOM!
4.There are several ways to play Engie.
A:The defencive Engie, who plays defence.
B:The offencive Engie, who sets up Sentrys,Dispencers, and Teleys for the team. A bit more risky though.
The first thing you really want to do is watch those "How to play the Spy/Scout/Pyro" vids, because they really help out with those classes. Seriously.
Heh, that is something we can't help you with unfortunately. Unless you play Pyro and just go around setting everything on fire. Watch this video and go try the Pyro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGIISxhYRYE
Thank you for the video. At this moment I am having some fun with the engineer. Placing Sentries and Dispensers is a precious supporting activity and you have to attend them to avoid spies and other trouble, so I am feeling very helpful even out of direct combat situations.
