I mean come on. The last major release was the crash problem but after that we are getting into server tweaks and small stuff from our last update. The end is near because CS:S is the last wait until HL2 comes out. LETS GET EXCITED!!!!

Check my new post in the CSS section, they realeased an update, it evaporated into thin air ! its like roswell all over again !

Yeah an update was just released, that blows your theory out of the water! We have not yet come to the end..

Aww crap...I spoke to soon, I should of kept my mouth shut. Still though alot are enhancments that they could of added after hl2 release....like Linux support and message of the day enabled. I mean there are no showstoppers listed there thats for sure.

Yes but Valve has been unusually quiet the last week almost no responses in the from Valve thread and very little to no posting by valve employees at other forums.

Quiet time usually means something is happening. Whether that something is something we want to happen (going gold) or something that we don't want to happent (like last time this happened it was source code theft) is a matter of speculation.

I may not like it , but the fact is CS:S is absolutely riddled with bugs!! It's nowhere near release worthy in the eyes of a professional company. I'd personally like them to just get it the **** released, but Valve wouldn't take that approach.

We're still a long way off.

a long way off??? how do you figure??? its a port, not a re-creation.....I find no problems what so ever with the game.

Yeah, it's like they still need to beta test it or something.

Mr-Fusion, you seem to have quite a few paradoxical ideas, you agree that CS:S isn't release worthy yet you want Half-Life 2 (in it's equally buggy state) to be released now. And, you are convinced that Vivendi are delaying the game till November (despite Vivendi saying nothing of the sort) to make more money, yet you admit that it wouldn't make sense to do so.

Some people really confuse me.

oh ok your all right, we are a long way off, and at this point the game will NEVER come out. Especially with perfectionists submitting bugs like "um I think the terrorists fingernail is just a tad too long and when I pull the trigger, the recoil isn't as fast, can you fix this??"

That is what bug testers are, perfectionists. Their job is make the game as near perfect as possible. I want HL2 too, but there's work to be done.

This game isn't worth it. At least make the CSs BETA public. Tribes can, why can't VALVE? This wait is tedious and annoying.

I am so drawn out and tired I couldn't give a f*ck anymore.

Hey maaan, like, whats with all the negative vibes baby :smoking:

God just wait till the rumour mongers get hold of-

# Terrorists now win if all hostages are dead and round timer expires.

Whats this....... hossies......on dust.....I don't think so.......ooooooowwww..........Italy????????

That's right

This is my deluded thought pattern.
1. CS:S is not release worthy in the eyes of professional company -> not in my eyes i want it now, bug fixes later
2. With that said i also want Half-Life 2 which is most likely finished.
3. Vivendi and Valve want to release in November so they're going to continually release patches for CS:S to lull the fans into a false sense of "the game still needs to be fixed" mentality when in fact it could technically go gold now with steam fixes ready to go on launch. Yes , CS:S does have bugs but when I look over the bug fixes the only major Source related fixes i see are the following.

Fixed rendering errors with DX8 and anti-aliasing
Fixed glows showing through map geometry
Fixed grenades getting stuck in props
Fixed crash (memory exception error) caused by physics props
Addressed flickering overlay textures on some video cards

The majority of the other updates are to make the CS:S beta experience better. They'd have no effect on Half-Life 2 single player and that's what i find frustrating. A simple port of CS 1.6 is causing the biggest sequel of all time to sit in the shadows. If there were far more source fixes i'd look at the situation differently......

Now unless Half-Life 2 has some secret super duper multiplayer mode which a lot of these CS:S bugfixes would directly affect i'd also look at the situation differently. But as far as i'm concerned there is no super duper Half-Life 2 multiplayer.

yeah this is seriously gonna lose fans soon ... people are starting to get pissed ... even me ... god ... valve better pull something out of their ass FAST

Fusion isn't the only one with confusing thoughts...one day u read a poster say something about CS:Source needing to be bug free and then the next day that same poster is predicting a late September release..

mood swings.. :|

And when it becomes obvious that HL2 isn't coming for a while, we can all scream "VALVE IS ******" at the top of our lungs for once again LYING TO US!!!111ELEVENONE

Then we can create a new "why Valve sucks elephant cock" thread every day and cry.

Sentences like this make me hate the internet.

Without any concrete evidence either way, this thread is mere speculation.

just think every day we wake up its 1 day closer even if they delay it it still 1 day closer then a year ago

Now that's the optimism we need on this forum ! I consider it the same way. Each day is one day closer to release.

Now let's hope they release cs_italy on CSS since they obviously fixed some hossie errors. I haven't seen any hossies on dust yet.

How big was the CS:S update from yesterday? Do you think they would do another preload tonight or is the update big enough to affect the bandwidth usage? I really don't care either way since I've not been preloading HL2. I'm just curious.

(Yes, I know there is no way to know if HL2 was going to preload tonight; I'm just curious if this update might affect their preload schedule.)

Looking at the status page, there's barely a blip when the update was released.
