lag problem

For some reason i get around a 2 second lag every couple minutes or so and its the same type of consistent lag, its like there is a problem on the connection. I remember my friend had this problem a while back and a friend showed him something in windows and it fixed it, any ideas?

i dunno i have a dlink wireless and im not connected directly to the modem
