I'm starting this thread because most of the tips are about certain weapons (namely, the gravity gun). Please post tips that are level oriented, using any weapons. Also, try to stick to the levels dm_lockdown , dm_crossfire , and dm_overwatch.

on lockdown, if you put an object under the hole in the fence near the showers, you can use the gravity gun to jump up. not much of a shortcut, but may be of some occasional use (if you don't get shot by the guy spawning off to your left first).

Good tip...
What I like to do is fill up on Pulse Rifle ammo (secondary) and stay at the long fence. Works really well on team deathmatch when they're coming through that hallway.

In dm_overwatch in a Team Deathmatch, get the majority of your team to the stairwell to the top level, pull everything you can into the stairwell. When you get to the top level, throw everything you can down the stairwell.

This is helluva fun because;

A. You control the high ground
B. Theres a healthkit and a battery up here
C. RPG, need I say more?
D. It's damned near impossible for the other team to get up the stairs, as you can rocket them from the roof, and you can throw grenades down the stairs.

Superior Tactics > Meatheaded run and gunning

On overwatch, focus on controlling the pulse rifle, 357 and crossbow, as invariably everyone swarms to the RPG.

:)

On lockdown, focus on the crossbow-357 hall and the Uber-HEV charger. Lots of campers there, easy kills with Grav-gun-grenade launch.

On overwatch, go to the bottom level where the pulse rifle is, and block the entrance (not the stair well) with the gravity gun. Stay back in the corner with the pulse rifle, and use secondary fire if anyone tries to come in through either entrance. This works really well, try it.

^unless someone spawns there :P
i tend to use the grav gun down on that bottom level mostly. great objects so if someone spawns just nail 'em

I usally push the car on top of the magnum spawn.

Makes picking off people that go for it, that much easier.

Good idea, though it might take a while. Gotta try that.

In Team DM on lockdown, have at least one team member with the rpg and at least one other with the magnum. Get the entire team to the balcony room with the supercharger. Block the door nearest the stairs and the crossbow with tons of junk. Then send out the magnum guy and the rpg guy to snipe down from the balcony, while at least one third person keeps the blockade up and takes out spawners with the shotgun. Rocket ammo is right there, and magnum ammo is right down the hall across from the balcony room. You can hold out for a long time.

That sounds like something I'm going to do next LAN party... thanks!

general tactic: plan the best runs to make for the maps: eg, for lockdown, magnum to super charger. this includes a battery and 2 health packs at magnum spawn.

if youre playing FFA on either official map, base your 'runs', ie the route you repeat around the powerups - i tend to stick to the magnum as it is so horrendously overpowered for the time being :D try to take in as many health packs and batteries on as short a run as possible.

Another good run is on lockdown, at the pulse rifle spawn point. There is an energy charge nearby, and two health pack spawns. Also, enemies may spawn nearby for easy kills.

As for the supercharger room, it is great to have control of, but be careful of pulse rifle secondary fire (please tell me its name, i fell like a nerd) coming through the windows.

also if youre in a fire fight with a shitty weapon, use the grav gun to pull a better weapon towards you quickly. beats running to it and getting shot in the back :D

yes...I hate being in firefights with just the smg when everyone else has revolvers/rpgs/both.

Go into the secret vent room (with rl and fan) take a shovel, cinder block, wooden pole, or whatever is near and block the fan like you did in SP, camp at the other side of the vent and 357/rl camp. You have HP and suit juice behind you

Nice, I wan't sure I you could block the fan... thanks!

Here's a good strategy for lockdown-- get the pulse rifle, then run alongside the fence. Take a left, and go to the dark room across from where the crossbow is. In the dark room, there is secondary pulse ammo, and lots of health. Also, this is great against the 'uber energy charger' room. This strategy is even better if you can get a rocket launcher.

camping the rpg/magnum hall in lockdown should work good with a group of 3+ people, one going on rotation in the fan while the others fight off people. only 2 entrances + you can block one off, and you have control of rpg and magnum

Good idea, but what would be even better is if you had the pulse rifle, theres secondary ammo in the fan room.

I love that gun.

yeah i was kinda thinking that too, definitely a bonus hehe

Secondary fire for that gun works great on the one hallway, the one farther from the vent.

i think that that area will really turn into a hotspot in games once more people realize just whats in the vent, and how powerfull the magnum is.

teamgames will probably turn into a power battle over that area i think (or they should anyway maybe)

Power struggles are the best in team DMs, or at least I think so... RPG v Pulse Rifle.

a good tactic is to throw misc crap in the locations where there is lots of traffic where the players have no choice but to whip out the gravity gun and start moving it manually instead of running around it. This makes a crapload of noise but can act as a rudementry alarm system for clueing you off to where players are.

Good places to clutter up in lockdown is the stairwell with the shotty, healthkit, and pulse and smg grenades, the long hallway with the chainlink fence on side that runs next to the bathroom, the area around the crossbow, and the 3 magnum locations. Especially the magnum next to the rpg.

I've been able to Fannihilate a few people who were going for the rpg but made enough noise to alert me to their actions. So its always a good idea to throw some clutter near the weapons in there if you have the chance. That way you know when you should go and plug that thing in

Wow, that sounds good. It also might distract the other players, so you can walk in and flank 'em with the revolver.

Here's an idea for lockdown... instead of staying inside the uber charger room, staying outside the ubercharger room. Use explosive weapons... RL, grenades, Pulse Rifle Secondary...

noone ever uses secondary pulse rifle or explosives on me when i charge. usually noone is even there :). anyway, where are the pulse rifle and rocket launcher in lockdown? i haven't really looked for them cuz i prefer magnum and shotgun bt i'm just wondering

pulse rilfe is in the room adjacent to the toilet room (the other big one with the tiles, has a armor charger i think) and the rpg is in the fan room, you gotta go through a vent to get there

What are the different spawns for secondary pulse rifle ammo in lockdown? I know with the rifle, and in the room across from the crossbow... anywhere else?

if im not wrong, theres a stash (smg nade, plasma ball, health, charge) under the staircase (near the magnum spawn room) that leads up to the supercharger area

If you are effective with the gravity gun, stay at the pulse rifle room in overwatch. If you feel the need, barricade the stairs (the best way to do this is with the cars).

In the latest update they changed overwatch a bit. I guess one of the valve guys saw that "overwatch tricks" video that showcased many of the skywalking tricks and window jumping.

Also, at the top of the stairs there is some rubble, before you could jump over it if you knew how, now you cant. BUT! there is a table right next to it so you can put it on its side or on the top and just launch straight up onto a ledge--from here you can go very very high with the right grav jump techniques and jumping

Its all kinda complicated but VERY satisfying if you can get to the top like that screenshot. Requires putting a cabinet sideways on a very small piece of support after you grav jump up there. Than stand on one side, jump up, and do some crouch jumping

How exactly do you grav-jump? I saw it on another thread, but it wasn't very communicative.
