when ever i put natural light in my map ,the map turns the coulor of the "light colour" i picked ,so say i want a white light,i go to coulor,pick white,start map,...but in the map all the texturs are vary white except for the ones in the shadow.anyone know whats goin on,do i have the lights to bright?

another prob im haven is wird lines of black,as if there was a gap in the map,but when i look at the map in the editor,i cant see any lines,im only gettin the lines in the ground where i have littel hills and bumps.


ps: sorry if i spell stuff wrong or whatever,im still asleep:x
 
im farly new to this so i dont know what the realy do,i have one near the ground.where should it be?
 
Especially if you made an environmental light, it's too bright.
 
ty,i got the light fixed,but the black shadows are still there,so are them wired black things sticking out of the ground..
 
where your displacement maps are there are points that u can move up and down. soem of yours arnt equal. probally where the two displacement maps join. its kinds hard to explain. also try puttin a brush behind the cliff to see if that will fix it.

one more thing tho , how would i go about porting it to hidden source?
 
Put the .bsp in the map folder for hidden:source

Or if you want to map with hidden:source in the pulldown box of the sdk you'll have to start a new mod.
 
aw,it dont look like ill be abel to make the map for hidden,i cant find iris or the hiddens spwan points.


my last question is ,how come when i put snow in the map it turns out like rain and the game crashes?

No seriously, you need the hidden fgd.
 
Well, to speculate wildly, the game might have crashed as a result of your putting snow-that-is-actually-rain in it. :P

Func_precipitation isn't good for snow, and Source doesn't seem to like some scenarios involving particles--in particular, people say that if a particle entity shoots particles out of the map, the game is prone to crashing.
 
so theres no way to get snow in my snow map lol?
 
Some people like to use an env_embers brush to make snow.
 
env_embers gives me weird flashing light artefacts whenever i use it

btw on the subject of light - i get strips of light where two displacements intersect (intersect, not meet at the edges). is this the portion of the lightmap on the part 'behind' leaking in?
 
or any tutorials to get rid of that line?
 
Pick a different sky. The default one in Valve's FGDs is broken.
 
i picked the one with 3d skybox written in each square,what other ones u think i should use that would fit a snow map?
