first i would like to know wether there are already some realy nice tutorial sites for hammer. I already found the snarkpit and the valve.erc thing. Both prety good but they dont cover everything. Do any of you guys know some nice tutorial sites?

then the lights. I would like to know everything there is to know about lights. What are the differences between light, light_dynamic, light_env and light_spot. How do you use lights correctly. I have noticed you cant put one light_env in a gigantic room cause you wont see anything.

how come i can only see some entitys? I followed the guidelines given on valve.erc. They say: "prop_physics
Models with built-in physical properties. Moves and collides using the rigid-body physics system. Can be constrained to other physics objects using hinges or other constraints. It can also be configured to break when it takes enough damage. Casts dynamics shadows. Expensive to move and render.

Examples: barrels, small debris, furniture."

it works on barrels cause i can see them but it doesnt work on tables or weapons... Do i have to use other prop things for these?

Could someone explain me in detail step by step how 3D skyboxes work? I am not getting the valve.erc help file :/

thx in advance! :D

I just noticed my table is there its just invisible oO If i pick up the invisble table with the grav gun and then shoot it against a wall so it breaks i can see the pieces... now that is odd :p

Can't really help on most of that (although I'll stay tuned to the 3D skyboxes thing)...but here's a decent tutorial site I've come across. Just don't pay any attention to the ladder tutorial..........it's obsolete.

Hello, i just joined the forum tonight. I have been reading up on a lot of map editing stuff before hand though, but I have a question on lighting that I can not figure out! I didnt think this was worthy for its own thread, because im not sure if its been answered before.

Anyways... I was wondering how to make light come from the light fixture models. So it actually looks like the fixtures are giving off the light.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
