Listen to my invention and tell me what you think of it

I want someone to create a portable monitor that can be used for a host of different devices.

Basically it would work like this. The actual monitor itself can be disconnected from the base and be slid into a laptop slot and work as that monitor. This would cut down on costs, allow more customization and improve usefulness.

The LCD monitor can be put in upside down and angled so that it could be used as an actual desktop computer. Also, a touchscreen version would be available or Photoshop work and what-not. A higher-end model would include bluetooth or somekind of wireless protocol that would allow you to use it away from the base (probably the most far fetched of all the versions and would require batteries to be super efficent) Finally, a version with a tv tuner built in would be available so that people could slid it into their base and use as a television.

What's a "laptop slot"?

This monitor would need a laptop that actually is able to put this screen on... Which the company would have to make also, and that's not going to happen. And even if it did, it would not cut down on costs in the least.

I say it's a needless invention, probably cost more than just having a laptop and a monitor for your PC.

Not only the cost, but I really think it's pointless to have the laptop and desktop share one monitor. Now if I leave my laptop somewhere, I have no monitor for my computer. Or if I want to use my laptop, I have to go to my PC just to get the screen.

Completely useless and money wasting.

Just build it FFS

Edit: No, it's more of having 1 LCD monitor for multiple devices.

They have that already, don't they?

They've done some of the ideas i mentioned, but not all of 'em.

Everyone loves the whole all-in-one device theme so i figured we should apply it to another aspect of our lives.

I don't know, I wouldn't mind having a wireless LCD monitor for watching TV, but that's just me.

I'd give it 2 or 3 years, everything seems to be going wireless.

I don't see the point of wireless for something stationary like a TV. So now I'm supposed to worry about changing batteries for my TV? Why not just plug it in?

Well see, it has the option of being both. You basically get a base and the actual LCD and the LCD can slid into the base and work as a regular television and have the ability to connect wirelessly to your laptop and allow you to do what you need to do. The LCD can also be slid out of the base and carried around and used as a portable television. (Say youre laying on your couch and you leave it on your laptop to watch or if you're in your bed and watching a snow right before you got sleep. Batteries get recharged when put back into the base.

Eventually if technology gets good enough, you'll be able to use the touchscreen version of the LCD monitor wirelessly from your computer, but right now, it would be too power demanding.

Other problem is with being able to keep up a good speed for transfering the video from the base to the monitor and what-not.

Yeah and send information through there
Ohh, you mean for the actual signal. Well ok. But power should definitely be from the wall.

And as for the OP again, why would I want a tiny monitor-sized TV? Unless it was for like watching TV on your lap or something, but that still needs the cable plugged into it for all your stations.

Yeah, the size would be the problem... Oh well, maybe I'll strike it rich some other way.

If I created a laptop monitor invention, it'd be one where you could buy small pieces of interlocking monitor parts, that you connect together to build as large or small a screen as you want. Hee hee.

Kind of like a jigsaw puzzle.

I'd be more impressed if you successfuly designed a cordless extension cable.

Or a wireless TV controller!

OMG I WANT ONE! I'm tired of having to sit on the couch and my TV controller not reaching all the way. So every time I have to stand up and walk to the controller to change the channel, or move the couch closer to the TV. I might as well just change the channel the old fashioned way.

Wasn't Microsoft's Origami supposed to be something like this? What ever came of that?

I for one wouldnt carry around a monitor.

If you could make it fold up and fit in my pocket... then it might be worth a look.
