Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:

• Server search filters now work properly
• All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the “G” key.
• Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives
• Flash bang effect radius decreased
• Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits
• Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.
• Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.
• Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.
• Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter
• Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased
• APC Update – “Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials”. This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.
• Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).
• Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.
• Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.
• Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.

This is a list of confirmed fixes only – we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon.

Some of the fixes sound really good. I like how we can now pick up C4, claymores and mines. And i'm really glad about the grenade launcher changes... damn F2000 whores.

i would have thought that a minimun arming DISTANCE would have made more sense for the gl launcher
also mines cant be detonated by explosives anymore - that could cause alot of headaches
and nothing about the red name bug or AA :(
 
I've never experienced the red name bug. But the other day i was on USMC on wake island... and this one guy was with my squad and this one guy had a chinese skin instead of a USMC skin, but he had a green name (my squad). I shot and killed him and it said teamkilled :(
 
Well the mines won't be a problem as long as you have an engineer. System worked fine in Battlefield42.
 
"Flash bang effect radius decreased" WHAT?! Barely anybody uses them anyway! Don't make them worse!

"Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced" Come on! It's a grenade launcher it's suppose to kill you before you can get a shot off! That's why only one class has it!
 
Yes! I really hate idiots who use the grenade launcher in close combat
I wish there was a red bug fix though, thats almost at the top of things I want fixed.
 
I'm glad that AT gets a new unlock. That's definitely what I'm picking once I hit 20k points. I also really like how classes can pick up mines/c4/claymores now. That's handy.

Hoo-F*CKING-ray that nade launchers have finally been adjusted. I was SO sick of Karkand being ruined by these noob tubes.
 
I liked the grenade launchers.... If its more damage, less radius then maybe I'll like it.

Finally, server fixes.

Especially the F2000. I mean i found one on the floor... and its super accurate and powerful. I got so many headshots with it. And with everyone running around with the n00b tube on it's stupid.

It's like:

Perhaps, but when the enemy is base raping your team with humvees and these buggy things, without the grenade launcher its too damn hard to get them out.
 
A grenade launcher is fine for Infantry versus vehicle combat, but it shouldnt be used for close infantry combat

True. But thats what your anti-tank should be for. Along with your stationary gun and rocket placements.
I guess i'll put up with the grenade launcher. I don't see it abused all that often, it just gets annoying when it is abused.

Yeah dont complain about this- this is what annoys me sometimes about what EA are going to do- they're fixing things that dont need to be fixed really, they're listening to the people that spawn over and over agin in the same place like you have described. Find another spawn, or a SL, and change your gameplay to beat it- that's half the fun of this game. :)

Except you'd like to protect that flag from being overrun, and if you spawn elsewhere, you're too late, they already have it...if you spawn there, there's a chance you can save it.

And anti-tank are good vs the humvees..you have to suck pretty bad to not be able to kill those with the AT launcher.

I like to spawn on my squad leader. Or the nearest spawn point to him.

That's only happened to me when the humvee is coming directly at me and is VERY close. I usually just dive/roll out of the way then shoot the guy as he goes around.

Like CyberPitz said there's something to be said for defending a point being overrun and like Ren said I try to spawn on my squad leader or the point nearest. The only way to live right now from an average noob tuber is to get the jump on him (not always possible and still doesn't always work due to firing at their feet) or get lucky.

I'm happy about all the changes but the bit about EVERY air vehicle being weaker. I think attack choppers are fine as it is. 2 good AT rockets will take you down and a few seconds of mounted machine gun fire will drop you low too. Now jets will be able to take down helos too easily with just guns I think. We'll have to see I guess.
 
This is very good news indeed. Love the tweaks to mines and the launcher, but what really intrigues me are the new sniper and anti-tank unlocks! I wonder how the hell they'll do better than the DAO-12...

Allegedly a reliable source sent in those pics from 1.2. Looks like new AT unlock is the P90 and the sniper unlock is the L96A1. They're also expanding the ranks to go all the way up to General. I wonder if it'll extend past 200k pts or if ranks will condense again so when we patch and kill we'll rank up instantly like before :P

EDIT: Oh yeah, visible UAV's now. Looks like they're gonna be Predator drones. I also wonder if you can shoot them down...THAT'D be interesting...and also annoying.

Ditto..if they are sitting still, great. Comming at me, screw it, they are invincible. It's pretty silly IMHO.

Then they tap me and I die...when I'll run full fledged into a guy, and he'll just bounce off. Why god WHY DO YOU HATE ME IN BF2 FORM!?
 
Sweet... a UAV will now appear where commanders place their UAV's... and we can shoot them down! :D I like this feature!

Whats a L96A1? Edit: ooh! AWP! :D
 
Bit off topic: Wouldn't it be cool if the destroyed vehicles didn't get erased? You could have a interactive terrain with that and it'll become even better. (for me, anyway)

And if the control of vehicles detoriated with damage it would be awesome. You would be forced to land your heli when it takes enough damage.

And it would be better if I just went to bed.

BF2.se playested the alpha version of this new patch, they have a video which shows some of the new features/ restrictions.

I must say, it looks positive- longer prone times, no more noob tubing at close range, you can pick up your C4 and claymores, and destroy the UAVs. These will all only add to the experience imo, and im looking foward to no more 'C4 jumping'
 
so the snipers get the L96A1...bullshit we do

the rifle fires a .308 round that goes 768m/sec, which you know will be cut to about 200m/sec and the maximum effective range is rated at 1000 yards, which you know will be cut down to about 200 also.


...just like the current .50 cal, it's garbage. It's so frustrating when it takes 3 shots to hit a stationary target 150m away.
 
I can't wait for the P90... by the time this comes out, I believe I'll be a First Sergeant, and thus have 2 new unlocks. \o/
