Lost Coast = pixel shader 3

ATI = Partner for HL2 release

ATI has no pixel shader 3 cards... the series was delayed.

sum= no way in hell Lost coast will be released before ATI can support it.

wait for the R5xx cards from ATI... then we get the expansion.

Oh, and in Computer Gaming World, it said that Lost Coast should be available by the time you read the article, which means that it should be in stores like in a week or so.

Lost Coast != SM3 by the way... It supports it, and having SM3 will help obviously, but it isn't necessary I don't believe.

Oh, and it's Shader Model 3... Not just pixel shader. You forgot vertex shaders! ;)
 
I'm pretty sure most people came to this conclusion a long time ago.

SM3.0 is required for "best quality" mode.

They don't call it the "ATI Levels" for the heck of it.
 
Btw, X800 supports 2.0b not just 2.0.
2.0b is very very similiar to 3.0 and has most of the features just dosn't support Openex HDR(or something like that, asus knows!)
 
preload for lost coast starts the 16th, with an ati/valve alcatraz 2 event on the 30th. :imu:
