lost game fonts

I installed some fonts on my system using HP font smart. It must have found the death match fonts when it did a search and installed them.

Now in the game, when there's a kill I see in the upper right:

playerBob 3 joePlayer
neo 1 morpheus
cooldude 4 baddude

instead of:

playerbob {picture of shotgun} joeplayer


Any idea how I can reinstall these? Preferably without reinstalling the game, don't want to have to download again (I bought game through Steam).

Hmm, you could try asking Valve to resend you the font files via email.

Ok, what you do is: do a file search for halflife2.tft, and DELETE all results. The ones you need to play HL2DM or HL2 are automatically restored. It's important however, that you delete the halflife2.tft that is stored in your windows fonts folder, since that overrides the steam one and creates problems such as yours.
