Magic Mod?

Just wondering if anyone is planning to make a mod based with spells and powers,the visual effects and possibilities make me shiver, lol. But i dont know how the multi works.. ir: if its round based like the ol hl/cs.


but just throwin the idea out there, if u have any to throw in this thread feel free!:cheers:
 
there was a "wizard wars" multiplayer mod for HL1, but it never was really popular.
 
For magic to be usefull in MP, most of the time it ends up being modern/futuristic weapons in disguise... It have to be really innovative, not just going from the thought of using magic.
 

I like the new dragons! I had a go at WW a while ago, I think it's a great mod. The maps I tried weren't that great though. It could be that I just chose the wrong ones :)

The mod itself is well worth checking out if you're into magic themes. It's good to hear that work is still continuing on it:cool:

I'm with Jebus on this one. I'm Raven, an oldbie among oldbies from the Wizard Wars community. We've been around for a long time, and while it's true we never picked up in the mainstream, Wizard Wars has maintained a cult following for more than four years. And having been around for nearly all of that time, I can easily point out the things that limited us.

1. Engine: Half-Life has a great engine, but for such an ambitious mod, it just didn't quite cut it.

2. Servers: This has always been one of our biggest problems. Even if a game is great, no servers means no players.

3. Team: For the longest time, Wizard Wars was managed by a very small team. Our original programmer, Alan Fischer, did a great job, but between the modeling and artwork and other things needing to be done, we come to our fourth problem.

4. Time: Because of the aforementioned problems with the size of the team and the unreliable pace, patches and updates came out very slowly, often a year between each update. That wasn't entirely bad, however, since Alan was so good and thorough, we never needed bug patches or fixes.

5. Content: While the concept of the mod was great, we just didn't have a lot of content right from the start. We built on what we started with, and have done a good job so far, but not at the pace of four years. When the day is done, Wizard wars is, for the most part, still TFC with wizards.




That of course, has the potential to change with HL2. A better engine, and a fresh start with an invigorated community are exactly what this mod needs. And that's exactly what the current team of Wizard Wars is looking forward to. All of these problems can be corrected, and we intend to do just that.

Thanks, Ive always enjoyed RPG/fantasy games. And making models for them is great fun too. But I do have a side of me that likes tactical/bloody games. Right now, until HL2 I hope, SOF2 is my favorite game!! I have a clan and everything.. Love it I do!! And my clan kicks ass!!
