I need some help, I have a custom VTF file that I am trying to compile for a server side admin skin for CS:S. I understand that it needs to be compiled to generate a mdl file. I went through 4 different tutorials for making models and I end up with the same result, purple and black model. The compiler runs fine with no errors. I can’t figure it out.

Has any of you guys ever successfully done this, and if so what tutorial did you use.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have no experience in skinning. However, as a player, downloading a complete skin just for some text on the back of some admin will prevent me from connecting to your server. I'm sure a lot of people cancel the download as well.

The download only takes about 10sec and once you have it you don't have to download it again.

A lot of servers are using the admin skins now. I would be willing to bet you already have admin skins download.

BTW if you can't contribute anything useful other than a complaints, please don't post.

Thanks

he wasnt complaining he was just giving you his opinion and its true a LOT of people disconnect when they find out that they have to download extra resources to connect to a server mostly because the server often has a huge list of other things they want people to have such as sounds etc. i remember waiting for atleast 15+min to get into a css server.

That is what makes me NOT play 1/2 the time. I don't feel like downloading 1/2 of Unreal Tournament to play CSS.
