Team-Dpad is now looking for members in Modeling & Mapping!



Mod Info:
Malter A.D. is a total conversion inspired by the “Elder Scrolls Series”. It has a few major changes, such as Online capabilities, improved graphics, and a better attacking system. We are still going to keep the first person perspective, but add more interactivity with physics and war machines. We also plan to include an upgrading system for the character and any other object (i.e. Battle Horse) , but this is still under review.

Requirements:
•Must have knowledge of your job (Mapper, Modeler, Skinner, etc.)
•Be able to vision things from thought
•Have co-operation amongst team members and leaders
•Must contribute ideas towards the mod, and make it better
•Also, the application must have pictures of your work

We are striving to get the maps done first so we can test them within the team. This is why we would like mappers and modelers to join the team first. Later we will be accepting coders, skinners, and animators. But for now only mappers and modelers, but feel free to drop a notice to me if you are interested.

for those of us that dont know what the elder scrolls are can you explain what the mod is about. and are you sure your not going to be violating any copyright laws? also wha teammembers do you already have and what have you already accomplished.
 
Let me explain. The Elder Scrolls series is an RPG setting where the gamer is free to explore anywhere he/she wants to. It is very open ended, and almost anything that you can do in real-life you can do in this series. It is full of different races, weapons, and quests for the user to find and complete. There is really no end to it. I highly doubt any copyright laws will be broken because we aren't basing the mod on the real elder scrolls series, we are simply using the first person perspective and RPG elements. But we are going to start with a Multiplayer mod. This will have 2 sides battling it out with weapons from the Medieval era. Mostly melee combat with shields and swords. Maybe a buy system similar to that of Counter Strike, but still not sure. We have a very new mapper who is learning, but he is going to make some concepts for the mod. We are getting another coder, and maybe a texture artist. But we really want modellers and mappers. We just started so we have not made much progress, mostly planning. I hope that answers your question. :P
 
There is no way you can emulate Elder Scrolls games on the Source engine. It wasn't meant for games like Elder Scrolls, and if you even want to attempt this you are going to want to an incredible team. What do you do for the mod? I think you should rethink where you want to go with this, because what you've got on your plate so far is a little much for you to handle. :-(
 
i think they want to recreate the theme of the elder scrolls rather than the actual game in terms of vast maps etc.
 
There is always a way to do something. Just because the game doesnt have guns doesnt mean it cant be done. Also, don't say i can't do it because you don't even know what my abilities are. BTW I am a modeller and coder.

Didn't say you couldn't do it... I said it'd take more work then an average mod team could accomplish. Unless you've got a hidden team of professionals? Good luck!
