Before I jump into the sort of complex world of modding, could someone please let me know whether it would be doable in a relatively short time to realize these 2 little mods to Episode One:
- Add the RPG guide laser to more weapons, like smg, pulse rifle etc. Both the red glowing dot and the little red trail. I do not mean the actual guidance ofcourse.. just the aiming.
- In an odd way duplicate the HUD. I want to have all things shown duplicated and shifted off a normal screen. So x values would need to be negative or higher than 640. Is that possible?
Why on earth would I want this?
Atm I am playing Episode One in Stereo3D (say IMAX 3D style), and in principle you can play it with shutterglasses, red-cyan glasses or polarized. The thing is, the entire "world" gets rendered for your 2 eyes. And since the HUD and crosshairs etc are rendered at z-depth 0 or something, they split up dramatically and end up off screen. (as if reading a book with your head right on the pages)
I don't mind the normal crosshair gone, since it makes no sense in stereo3D and that is why I need the RPG like laser. Since it is true 3D and works like a charm. Second, the HUD is split up and I can't see it anymore, it sort of drifts like at x=-100 and x=740 or something. If the HUD would be duplicated and placed normally at say +300 and -300 pixels it would with some tweaking of the actual numbers be in 3d too!
I sure hope all this makes sense.. I am no modder, and if anyone could let me know if this is even possible I can figure out if I'll take the plunge.
ps: I am sure there are quite a bunch of stereo3D players interested if this can be made to work....
