Mod Installation

Hey, im new to modding for games and i wanna get on the right track. But i have the simplest problem that i cant figure out anywhere. How do i install a Mod. I downloaded eclipse 1.02 from the website. It has no Installation wizard or anything like that. It has a PDF manual which says instructions on how to install from CD and also mentions a install wizard but i dont see anything like that in the Download i got. Can someone please tell me which directory to put it in because i tried a lot.

For a Half-life 2 mod, you simply need to go to your Steam directory in your program files folder, then go to Steamapps, and find a folder called 'SourceMods' which you copy and paste the folder directly into. Upon restarting Steam, you should have the game in your 'my games' list.

For HL1 based mods, you are usually supplied with an executable file which browses for the directory to where HL1 is installed, and from there it's a basic install wizard 'next' 'next' 'next' 'finish' job.
