****I wouldnt read this if you havent seen the movies slight spoilers****

Mannnnnnnnnn I love this freaking movie. I just saw it and it surpassed my expectations. Though the beginning was a little slow. When i was watching this movie I kept thinking of Donnie Darko and how it was sort of the opposite. Also I felt sad for Pedro when the principal was talking to him like a dumbass and he kept getting nervous and what not. My favorite part of the movie was a transition of the cyber nerd to the homie g, then the time traveling device, and finally when Napoleon throws the orange at his uncles van and how the uncle reacts to it then he gets out the van and does the kungfu thing. Only beef I had about the movie is that I felt it could have been a bit longer

any thoughts anyone wanna try to decipher some of the scenes meanings. I think this movie has deeper meaning than one sees sometimes like when Napoleon tells Pedro to just follow his heart. But w/e

Yes I know a thread was made about this like 4 months ago but a hhh welll :D

Theres absolutley no hidden meanings in Napoleon Dynamite. It's basically a look at how many people felt as teens in school (overemphasised for dramatic effect). It's a wicked film tho and I can totally sympathise with Napoleon in the movie (I love his run that he does with his arms scraping accross the floor and his body at a 45 degree angle). Highlights for me are: the time travelling device, the bit where napoleon slaps the other dude on the face just before answering the door, the dance he does to Jamiroquai at the end, and other bits too small to mention (like when he finds the sai, or his kevin-isms).

Did you guys watch the wedding at the end after the credits... hehehe freakin' class.
I loved this movie

There is a deeper meaning; along with making fun of life as a teenager its a stab at life as a mormon (the movie was made by mormons with an entirely mormon cast). Watch the dance seen again and you'll know what I mean.

Well I'm not a mormon, I don't know any mormons, so for me this is irelevant. What's so interesting about the dance he does to Jamiraquai anyway apart from the fact that it was piss-funny?

I think he meant the other dance when theyre in the highschool

heres some cool facts :
uncle rico didnt drink milk or eat meat during the movie soooooo in the scenes he usually spits it up after the camera went off of him.. also in the scene after he throws the steak at napoleon u can see him taking a peice of steak out of his mouth and putting it on the plate....

The movie was just to make people laugh by emphasizing and exagerating many aspects of teenage life. If you find deepermeaning, then its only meant for you, and is a production of your own wanting there to be one ;]

Acctually there is a large mormon community where I live (though I am not one) and they explained the movies "mormon theme" to me.

what is this "mormon theme" ye speaketh of

Well I'm Mormon and I know that most of the cast is too, but I don't really think this is a slice of Mormon life in Idaho. Yes the kids were really far appart at the dance, but I think that's just because Napoleon was nervous around girls.

If you listen to the commentary on the DVD you'll see that it's just a movie about being a teenager and growing up. Nothing more. But it was a great movie. Haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

"Your mom goes to college" LOL!

what was so funny about that line kip is just an ass
