Need help with designing a logo

Or simply making it fit specific dimensions. I'm trying to get a picture to look sharp as 940 x 198 and the basic look I'm going for is something like this:

(i know, i know....inception overload)

I don't really want the words, just the top. The best program I have right now is paint so I don't really know how to go about doing this. I'm not asking for someone to just do it for me (although that would be nice), but some helpful hints on what to do would be appreciated.

Oh god Druckles what have you done.

There is no way to stretch a photograph by that much and still have it look good without heavy retouching. Find a new source photograph or find a way to 'extend' the left (and possibly right) sides, if you've got good photoshop skills you could make it work.

Like, take this part of it and try to extend it with copy pasting and some retouching to make it look seamless and natural, but not repetitive.

I really hope that your source photograph doesn't have all those artifacts like the one you posted in the OP, because if so it already looks like shit.

Honestly if you've never used photoshop before then there is no hope for you to make a nice result out of that image for yourself.

Another thing you could do is find a nice large photograph that looks similar to that floor, and then take the top from this original image and put it in there. Add a little shadow like you can see in the original, and a slight reflection if appropriate, and adjust the tone/color of it and it'll look fine.

haha, this is basically what i'm hoping will happen. some good Samaritan will come along and save the day because i don't even have photoshop.

i'll see what i can do but i have zero faith in myself.
