The Windows Graphics and Gaming Technology group is looking for a software design engineer to join a growing team responsible for developing Direct Physics. This team is responsible for delivering a great leap forwards in the way game developers think about integrating Physics into their engines. Physics and real time, accurate simulation is a key part of the next generation gaming experience, bringing increased realism, greater immersion and more interesting experiences.

Looks like this could really fuel the PPU and fancy physics in games! :)

I'm glad to see Microsoft is implementing an API for DirectX for physics, and I hope that it's compatible with the PPU! :)

Is this just to support in-game physics? Sounds like overkill.

Not really. DirectX making games a lot easier to develop for as it takes away the pain of having to communicate with the hardware.

Microsoft are helping developers put advanced techniques in their games without having to code a damn large amount of code.
