Nothing new here. Gabe basically talks about the games in Orange Box, and there's a bunch of footage you've probably seen before.

But it's in HD!

Another oddly poignant mention of Alyx and her "relation" to the G-Man. Make of it what you will. Also, since when is Alyx just our "sort of" love interest?

EDIT: Ep. 1 footage features some of the same, semi-spolierish material as the CG preview. The Portal vid features glimpses at the heroine. Is she wearing cullotes?!?

Not really. You see some of the same Combine Advisor stuff as before. it's just prettier.

Yeah, exactly, that was pretty funny as he told that Alyx is "sort of love interest". At least we know what's on their minds now;)

Isn't it obvious? I have no problem with that, with all those subtle hints she gives through out Half-Life 2 and Episode One. It's written all over her face...hurrhurr. ಠ_ಠ

Anyways, even though its a week old, it's still great to hear from Mr. Newell.

I wonder if he was joking about the love thing...
Anyways, is it just me or has gabe lost weight?

Question: Since when is valve a coportation?

Well spotted! Well, sh** happens from time to time. It's only a small, funny mistake, isn't it? ;)

I kind of feel sad for Gabe. He was sitting there in this box giving interviews all the time. I wonder if he finally saw the showfloor at least?

I'm pretty sure that Alyx was always intended to be "more than just friends."
Remember the E3 '03 video which opens by showing off the facial animations with the G-Man? Right at the end, as it fades out, they say something like "And maybe encounter some other emotions" and the G-Man bounces his eyebrows provocatively. Here's the video without the commentary, in case you've forgottern.
Then Eli's "There's nothing Gordon can't handle..." comment in Black Mesa East, then Alyx's hands pressed against the elevator's glass door at the end of HL2 and as you go into the core in Episode One and oh so many other things that weren't exactly subtle.
I think Alyx is great and although I don't think they can go for a full on love interest, they've managed to get a mutually strong personal affection between the player and another character in a way rarely seen in computer games.

Thanks for the video. I enjoyed hearing it from the man himself what he thinks of the games.

Oh yeah, Alyx was always meant to be Gordon's love interest--the developers said as much in the commentary tracks for Ep. 1 (the elevator scene near the Citadel core, in case you want to go looking for it). I wasn't questioning that. I was just saying that Gabe's remark about her being your "sort of" love interest seems to qualify Alyx's role in the way it hadn't been quailifed in the past. Alyx likes Gordo and (given the proclivities of the average video gamer), it's safe to say he likes her too. So why the "sort of" thrown in there? That, in essence, was my question.

LOLOLOL thats just plain stupidity...:D
coporation lol

Nicky, rudeness leads to a ban. Think about that. (Deleted posts)

Yeah besides the looks throughout HL2, it was pretty much a for sure thing after Barney's little talk with you in Ep1 when he gives you the crowbar.

Interesting remark about Alyx. I wonder how many times Gabe has had to say pretty much the exact same thing. :(

Very intesting. Perhaps when Gabe said "sort of," he didn't want to give it away abit, because of what might happen in the future I guess. :naughty:

Gordon Freeman: This is relevant to mah interests! ಠ_ಠ

*pats Nicky on the head and gives him a talk*

I laughed out loud when I saw that spelling error. :bounce:

Gabe Newell is the last person I'd want to actually listen to regarding what's coming. The previous video I saw with the guy who was the actual lead of development for HL2E2 gave us details and didn't have problems forming his words. Gabe is always doing his uh's and the-the-the's.
Also, regarding the source code being released onto the Internet, I heard he had it on an XP SP1 machine without a firewall running. If that's true, then he has only himself to blame and not the actual HL2 which he blames the "stressful period for our company" on.
And yes, it is clear he has lost weight which is quite surprising for a guy who you'd assume just sits on his ass all day every day. But hey, I'm not one to judge... :P

I would like to hear the release dates from Gabe himself than anyone elese ;)

speaking of Uhs and the-the's have you actually herd Will Wright speak? :naughty:
