It looks like I'm starting to convince a few people. Some more evidence.
Firing Types
"IR Rifle" Primary=Redish Flare, 1 unit energy Secondary =Plasma-blob (or something) that evaporates enemies and bounces off objects.
"Unknown" Primary=Regular bullets (9mm or something) Secondary= (just a guess) ?Grenade?
Things sticking out the front
"IR Rifle" There are black non-tube objects on the advanced rifle which rotate (tunnels video) after you fire.
"Unknown" There are chrome tubes that do not rotate after you fire.
Triangular pieces at front:
"IR Rifle" Features black front piece that looks like it stores ammunition. Piece is not actually triangular.
"Unknown" Features a chrome piece that appears to be used to deflect bullets, block from grenade launching exhaust, or act as support when laying down. Piece is definitely triangular.

Those two pieces are in different places, at different angles, and don’t look the least bit similar in the pictures, and especially not in the videos. It looks for the wrong thing. It's just a little tricky with the viewing angle.
You see, it's some kind of shield, mounted on the right site of the gun.

so it's the same gun.

Best explanation yet, but still quite dissimilar. The difference in weapon height and many other features makes this explanation highly unlikely. If this is the difference, valve really needs to review their V and P models. It could just be a difference between the V and P models, you know. Because other than that little bit that sticks out, they're incredibly similar.
Watch the videos. It’s 100% part of the gun. That thing, that is missed on the left picture is something from the background and not part of the the weapon^^
