I suggest browsing this website, and www.planethalflife.com maybe to get an idea of the game, it will be faster than using the forum

You need an internet connection, but you dont have to download the whole game, you can buy it on CD
 
THE GAMES STORYLINE IS EXELLENT, THE GAME IS FUN, VERY FUN, YET ITS QUITE AN EASY GAME SO YOU SHOULD BREEZE THROUGH IT, SECONDLY -- Ok enough of that :p

Its not a very long game no, but thats pretty standard for FPS shooters these days.

The graphics are fantastic, some of the best on the market, here are a few examples...

Its quite linear in terms of freedom, theres a strict route throughout the game with little freedom to explore, yet the enviroments are quite large, and bieng able to mess around with pretty much everything physics wise fills in for it.

And to some it up...yes it is worth buying. If i missed anything, its because i struggled to make out what your saying...:P

Internet is used to prevent piracy.
 
hmm..i thought Valve said the internet connection part would only be a requirement for the first few weeks?
shouldn't internet connection no longer be a requirement?

Yes, I did mean "Physics". I'm done bieng sarcy, so i'll assume you meant it as in "What do you mean by physics.."

When i say physics, i mean every object in the game is interactive, you can lob stuff, knock things over (like barrels or bricks) and even better, once you gain the grav gun you can hurl them at enemies.

Piracy is basically theft of a game, the internet is only needed for a minute or two when you first install the game to make sure its all legitimate

No. the developers are more concerned that you are the one stealing it.
 
Please, do not type in caps (big letters). On the internet this is considered rude. Write in a normal way, with a capital letter at the start of a sentence (not word!) and a period (.) after a sentence. Thank you.
 
The internet is only needed first up for installation. After its all validated, then you don't need it any more and you can just play in offline mode.
 
Oh, oh oh, this thread makes me want to cry.
Come back after your age is in double figures, or after you've been naturalised into an English-speaking country, whatever is neccessary...

No, but you could pirate it by downloading from the internet without paying for it via programs like DC++ or bittorrent. You cannot install HL2 without internet. You have to use the keyboard. No, that's not the way piracy works, at least not when dealing with EB Games (though I know some places in russia... nevermind). Without pirating the game, you cannot install it, and therefore you can't play it without veryfying via an internet connection that you bought it. It's not an option, it's a must.

But he writes the way he wants, and he did ask for our help. Now should we extend our welcoming arms to a future possible greasy, nerdy HL2-geek like us or should we point and laugh at the reflective image of so many of ours pasts?

A custom made PC for 300 bucks? Lol... if it actually runs HL2, it will look like shit. Save up and get a better PC.

It takes a longer time to read something written as caps than written as lower-case. This is because your brain is familiar with the shape of words written in lower case - your language centre doesn't actually go a, p, p, l, e - apple! - each time you read apple. The brain isn't as familiar with reading words written as all caps, so it takes longer, and that is why (not to mention the fact that it is reserved by most people for 'shouting' text, and that it is inconsiderate, and that it reeks of sub-teen noobness), and so it is very very f***ing annoying!!

A custom PC for 300 bucks? Ha. A 300 dollar machine most likely can't even run Steam. I hope your Keyboard is broken, because you sound like a 9 yearold. Anyways, if you know so little about gaming/computers, I suggest getting at least a thousand dollar computer then get Half-life 1 and Half-life 2 (so you understand what is going on in game).

It requires internet and you have to download patches. The game's short, easy, linear, not very gory, has a few blurry textures, a confusing storyline, and is probabally the best game ever made. GET IT! ;)
