Can someone please show me how to make a map that is in a night setting. I can't figure it out how the map properties/enviro light entity needs to be set. I would be forever in debted to you.
 
I've never made one, but it should just be a matter of lowering the alpha on your light_environment (something between 1-64 should do), and choosing (or creating) an appropriate skybox texture. Then use whatever artificial lighting you need for the dark spots.

Or is there a special checkbox somewhere that indicates "this is a night map" :)?
 
just a matter of setting the light_environment values darker...
keep in mind that there should be a blue tint to it.

I am making one right now where both bridghtness and ambient is set to a light blue and it is looking fairly good s far :D
 
it's really quite easy... just put some light blue colors in brightness and ambience :D
 
I haven't tried blue specifically but I've tried red before (just hoping to see any color change) and after I complied it, it acts like my light_enviroment didn't exist. And yes, I have rad and vis enabled.
 
Change the skys name to something darker sky. Offcourse its bright because dust sky will make bright.
 
Yea and you could use a negative pitch for the light_env ( something like -60 ).
 
Anable I just openend your map to look at it and here's a tip for you: you shouldnt use the carve tool...
 
NO! Carve tool is the devil! stay away from it as much as possible...
 
Wow, this whole time I was getting so pissed because of the lighting thing and I just had to change my skybox name.

What's so bad about the carve tool? I looked at how it broke down the area surrounding my two doors and that's exactly how I would have manually done it had I note used the tool. What am I missing here?
