No 6.1 Speaker support?

Hi everyone,

I just recently installed Half Life 2 and was surprised that it had an option to choose 5.1 and 7.1 speaker support, but not 6.1 speakers. Is there a way to enable 6.1 surround speaker support through the console or another way?

If there isn't a way to get HL2 to support 6.1 speakers, do you think my speakers would function better with HL2 set to output in 5.1 or 7.1? My speakers are shown in my signature. EDIT: I don't know why my signature will not display???? It is shown as being filled out in the User CP? Anyway, I have Creative Megaworks 6.1 THX Surround Speakers.

Testing for my signature...yes the box is checked.....and it shows this time, so apparently I guess it was not checked before.....ok, thanks.

6.1 was/is not a very popular sound card setup, so half-life 2 doesn't support it, only 5.1 and 7.1....the audigy 2 doesn't even come in such a configuration as far as i know, either 5.1 or 7.1.....figure that out, and set hl2 to that....if your speakers actually function properly is a whole nother question
