I happily playted through Half Life 2 yesterday until I got some crazy air bike thingy from some people on the 'railroad'. Eventually I got chased by some chopper shooting at me. Soon, I needed to get off my bike thing and open up a gate. All was going well, then I saved, turen off the PC and got some food.

This morning, I wake up and really want to carry on playing, so I load up my game and run like crazy to avoid the fire from the chopper .... but it just hovers. Great! Now I can get past easily .... Thinking it is a clever game and that because I crouched it didn't see me, I carry on. Continuing this train of thought, I creep up to a guard and whack him with my crowbar! I am starting to think it is stealth like Oblivion .... until I run up[ a ladder and stand face to face with 2 guards and they do nothing. I dance around and they stand there. I shoot one in the leg, he shouts a bit then stands still.

I have loaded, restarted and everything. But no one can see me :( And it means I can't do the game because some people wont open a gate later on. Whats wrong with them?!?! Has someone slipped something in their coffee?

Thanks all

He means in the way that this is a common symptom of the pirated version of the game.

Wow and just because it's a common symptom of a pirated version he immediately asumes he's using one:rolleyes: . Well for your information smart ass there are pirated versions of the game that work fine and don't have this "symptom".

Edit: Don't ask how I know this:cheese:

I haven't got a screenshot .... don't know how to :S I have to go to work soon, so my next reply might not be until later tonight .... but everyone just stands still. It is really annoying :( It isn't a copy (I thought Steam stopped that from happening??) I am supposed to open a big gate that says '5' on it. I just have, but now no one is moving at all. Thanks for any help

trust me remus, it is a very safe assumption
he stole the game, no doubt in my mind just as you did
it can be easily fixed but I am not going to tell him how

I must say, I am quite upset that you have assumed I 'stole' it. I have a DVD sitting here. But, I also understand that if it is a common problem with stolen games, then I can see why you would think it and therefore understand why you are reluctant/refusing to help. I can't force you to help, so won't try. Thanks for your time

I agree with $kelet0r, but so you don't say you were treated unfairly...

If you have a legal copy, just post a screenshot of your steam games list with this thread (with your login name visible), and the date showing in the background. Bring all those things up, press "print screen", open MS paint (everyone has it with windows, so no excuses), and go to "edit", then "paste". Save as a jpg, and upload it to imageshack or something. I gave you those instructions so that you have no excuses to not do it. It's the easiest way to try to prove you didn't download an illegal copy of the game.

Whereas the internets littered with examples of this happening in legit copies. Eh, smart arse? Take your two pence and sod off

Thanks for finding a way for me to prove it to you that it is a legal version. But, I fear I no longer need your help as my 12 year old son gave me the answer. Prehaps the younger generations aren't so bad?

Oh, and just to save you all from wondering and thinking I was trying to get out of giving proof .... I appears that I was at the butt end of a practical joke :/ Apparently there is a notarget consol command or something, I didn't quite keep up. Anyway, seeing as I have an old computer, the loading times are pretty long for me, so it isn't rare for me to leave the room when it is loading .... that explains the fact that re-loading my game didn't work .... No TV for someone tonight!!!!

I call lies. You said right there in your first post that you had "loaded, restarted and everything". I doubt that you left the room each and every time, and that your son was able/bothered to type it in each time. Your load point would not have saved it if he had typed it in after it had loaded, and you would have had the problem already if he had typed it in before you saved. Also, your post about getting the solution from a 12 year-old makes it sound like you/he solved a problem finally, yet you quickly make another post to try to defend why you didn't post a screenshot, and suddenly instead of saying you "solved it with a 12-year-olds help" it changes to "it WAS the 12-year-old". Interesting "explaination".

At least you aren't trying to get help from us anymore about this issue in any case.

he is lying out of his ass - restarting a level undoes any ingame console commands. Type in 'notarget', restart the level and everything will have reverted to pre 'notarget' default
simple as

Wtf is wrong with you guys, honestly, you don't need to keep persuing him. If he's pirating Valve's crack enforcement team will break down his door and drag him to their secret dungeons anyway, you know that.
