No one could have put more into GLaDOS

I like Ellen McLain, especially after listening to the commentary. She plays the GLaDOS role brilliantly.

No offence to Ellen or anything, but her eyes look crazy in that picture.

Yeah, she does both of those. I read either in an interview or a preview that she was in both Portal and TF2, and IMDB lists her in Half-Life 2 and subsequent episodes.

That's correct, Absinthe. She is effectively the only voice actor to have had a part in all games in The Orange Box :D

You failed! Stalemate!

.... sadly, now my feelings of wanting to stab someone in the neck in a fit of rage has now been linked with her name. O_o

Don't you just love it when a celebrity writes back? I fired off an email to Ellen a few days back, which read:
Hi Ellen,

I loved your voice acting in Valve's The Orange Box, especially Portal. You played GLaDOS spot on, and some of GLaDOS' lines made me laugh out loud (My favourite line by far has to be about the particle emancipation field being known to emancipate dental fillings, crowns, tooth enamel and teeth.) In short, you rock, keep up the good work!

From

Charlie Wood, Scotland.

The reply I got (just now in fact) was:

Dear Charlie,

We adore Scotland!
My husband and I were able to full fill a lifelong dream of mine to visit the Isle of Mull. The home of the McLain's (MacLain, McLean, MacLean, etc.)
We visited Duart Castle and I felt my ancestors welcoming me.
We also fell in love with Oban, Edinborough, and everywhere we went.
So I am very gratified that a Scot appreciates my work.
Hope all your fillings are still intact.

Our best regards to you,

Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie(his people are also of the Kilt)

I've noted that whenever I mention that I'm Scottish to any American, they usually start talking about how they traced their roots back to us :D

But yeah, Ellen is a pretty nice person it seems ^^ go ahead and fire off an email to her if you want to compliment her on her work too :D

Well, Scots are proud people! ;) Here in New Hampshire, if I'm not mistaken we have the largest Highland Games outside of the Highland itself, and I go every year. :)

Ellen rocks, and it's awesome that she wrote you back. :)

Ellen, if you're reading this, heads up for nerd spam.

On a related note, excellent work!
