Nobody knows. Probably depends on what's in it. My personal estimate would be the equivalent of about 70, 80 US dollars.

Really, are PC-games that expensive in the UK?

ohh yeah every1 who bout a raddeon or however it is spelt, why?

nivida and valve have always been together i mean ppl say it wont work but i have a nvidia Gforce 2 and i can play UT2003 full specs fine

*sorry bout my pour spelling

yeah and software americans get atnivirus for 20 $ we pay 50 £ we should be paying bout 10 £ compared to yours

Actually, if you convert $50 to £GBP you get about £30 which is what we pay.

Chris_D its not £30, its £35.

and for the collecter's edition will be around £45-£50

Funny, my HL2 pre-order of the full version, with everything, cost me £25 :P

People really should trust this site's sponsers :)

is there still no word on what will be in the collectors edition?

maybe HL1 updated in source

All games I buy are between £25 and £40 Gorgon. On average it'd work out the same as $50 a game.

We get ripped off for everything, when I went to America I was amazed at how cheap everything was. Seriously, I felt like I was being robbed when I got back home... However we do apparently get paid more, but that's because we work the longest hours in the world. I think I'd sooner work less and buy cheaper stuff ;)

How long are your work hours? On average mine are 8.5 - 10 hrs a day. That's only my average, not counting the many times I've had to work 15 - 24 hr shifts. I know a lot of you "kids" will be skeptical, but believe me; when you need the money, you'll work as long as your boss will let you.

ATI and Valve are together now, NVIDIA is lagging behind. the 9800 is what Gabe Newell is recommending for HL2 to run properly.

I think the reason North Americans have the longest work hours amongst first world nations is because we have very few holidays when compared to parts of Europe.

I lived in the UK for 15 years just moved to Canada for a few years, and Ive lived in the states as well, and its cheaper in NA because we pay way higher taxes in Europe, for free healthcare, free university etc, etc.

If you pay those higher taxes, is it really free? No offense.

Nothing in this world is free

The higher taxes don't come to anything near the price of the actual treatment of an individual, so, if not free, it's very cheap...:)

I'd much rather the Govt. not have control over my medicare. But that's just me.

Well, we have private hospitals too, best of both worlds really. ;)

Don't try to get competitive. I've had enough arguments on this board, and you seem nice; so I don't want to sour friendly relations with a "My country is better than yours" arugument. I can say that aside from that, we Americans have many freedoms, freedoms other countries don't - and I cherish them more than anything. That's all I have to say.

Personally I find that Game prices have generally dropped in the UK compared to a few years ago. Especially with the increasing number of online retailers giving the high street stores a run for their money. I can distinctly recall paying £50 for doom, and the same for Sim City when they first hit the shelves. Nowadays most games tend to hit around the £30 mark, although some try and ask for more (Enter the Matrix being a prime example). Personally I'm not entirely convinced that the various 'flavours' of HL2 will be seen this side of the pond. It seems something orientated more for the american market.

Hmm.. maybe most other countries, but Britain is hardly a backward eastern bloc regime where the state rules all. I'm not being competitive here, just it makes me feel bad when you say "freedoms other countries don't" when we have been democratic for a lot longer. No hard feelings, just Britain is not very different to the US. :)

Well, my tuppence about the different versions, is that I would only buy the single player version if it came out before the full release. That said, if I were the Chairman of vivendi, I'd definitely release the single player first to milk some more money from people who can't wait for the multiplayer but will buy both.

A corporate fatcat in the making I am, let's hope they aren't so bad! *grins*

You're right, we aren't "very" different. I can't say this with certainty, because I've never been there; I hear there's a tight leash on guns? Though I don't think guns are the greatest things, they can save lives. Criminals will get guns, legally or illegally...I think citizens have the right to protect themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm basing it off what fromer English citizens have told me.

BTW: No hard feelings, either. Britian is a great ally to the US, and I have a lot of respect for your country. I just know we have certain freedoms others don't, though we have very few that Britain doesn't.
And Britain has some perks that we don't. Like your fancy state-run, and private hospitals. ;)

Well, yes, a very tight leash, but personally that doesn't bother me. We have much less gun crime, although I agree about the "criminals will always get guns" bit, it really cuts down on the availability of weapons, and the likelihood they'll be around when people are angry.

When I went to America I got to shoot about 30 different guns, it was great, but I never really felt safe there, knowing anybody could have them. Even seeing police with guns at their sides made me worried I was going to get mown down for holding a banana the wrong way, and the police seemed to be really intrusive to make matters worse.

Also it means that if someone is spotted with a gun, they must have a bad reason for having it, so the SWAT team can be called out to waste them, hehe.

And about the competitiveness; I really wasn't trying to be, it wouldn't make sense since I am moving to America (partially) to take advantage of the private health-care system (doctors get paid a lot more over there because of it).

America just felt to me like an extremely large Britain with lots of pickup trucks, and extra large bottles of coke. Oh and better weather, definitely better weather... ;)

Partially? Are you talking about Dual-Citizenship? As long you don't bash America, I'm okay. That's one thing that bothers me. Some people move here, get their education payed for, then begin to bad-mouth America. What's worse is when our own native-born country-men denounce it. Anyway, hopes you enjoy America. But you don't seem to be that kind of person, you just love your home...like I love mine.

Hey, my education won't be paid for by America, why would I want a degree from an American University when I'm from Britain (Oxford, Cambridge)?
I'll be moving there as a skilled medical professional, so I won't be leeching or anything, I really will get pissed if people start saying that kind of thing, because I'll be providing a service to American people for the rest of my days. That's hardly leeching.
Also, by partially, I meant that's half the reason, the other half is that my fiance is American, and she wants me to move over there.
I knew posting that I was going to move to America would be flame-bait, and I don't see why it should be since America has become what it is due to immigration. The only people who are native americans are.. erm.. native americans (we call them indians but I hear that is frowned upon over there).

I hate it when people use that kind of stupid reasoning. Protection, sure.

Compare the amount of gun crimes, or murders in general, in America, where guns are constitutionally allowed, and England, where law-enforcement aren't even allowed to have guns.

Hey.... isn't this a Half-Life 2 forum?:O

Hehe, Ok Chris :) Just trying to defend my *future* actions

Actually, just realised what the thread was originally about so I think we've answered the question.

Feel free to continue the rest of your chat on the OTF :)
