NPC wont respond and theres no other way past

OK i am at the wall past the sand dune bit, i know the npc is supposed to open the door but he doesnt he just stands there.
I even tried building a crate "ladder" to get over the wall/get closer to the npc to interact but the wall is zoned so you cant jump over and the npc does nothing

I have tried reloading the game, rebooting my pc, to no avail.
Anyone got any suggestions?

first time i went there a big bug appeared
i killed it and then the game crashed
now it wont even go that far

problem solved
official support from sierra told me to delete some files and it fixed it
