Okay, are you sure that games in USA would really export to other country?

I live in Hong Kong; I have waited weeks for SiN Episodes and it never comes out. Also, I cannot see HL: Episode either. Are all the games-makers complicit with Steam and just let their game sold via Steam???

I grow impatient.

They do, just depends. I'm not sure on the details of a boxed sin copy as I couldn't find one down here. I do however have a boxed copy of episode 1.

western FPS don't always get shipped to asia, as they tend not to sell well

Just buy it from Steam. Steam isn't for ordering boxed copies of games, it's for downloading games right onto your hard-drive.

My money will be certainly stolen if I do it on my computer. I cannot sure whether there is any programme like Trojan Horse.

Steam isn't a virus program and Valve cannot steal your money unless they'd like a federal investigation on their hands.

Steam is safe, but not my computer. Some hostile programmes tend to mark down what keys I have typed, so that hacker can get my card numbers and password via that.

Than do a virus scan / spyware scan / malware scan. :|

Get rid of all the nasties.

google for...

AVG free

Spybot Search & Destroy

Ad-Aware

I've found those three to be a pretty effective combo....

The straight to the point language is mildly creepy.

"I grow impatient."

If you have a keylogger on your pc why not just format it and start fresh then buy off Steam?

QFT

Unless you really know what you're doing, best bet if you have any serious threats on your computer (ex. trojans / keyloggers) is to format and put in a fresh copy. Just remember to back up important documents and you'll be fine...

When I back it up to any other hard disc, it infected the new one. So when I put those data back to my new OS, the virus re-occupys my pc.

Yeah, really, if you have trojans and keyloggers you simply shouldn't be thinking about new games until your computer is clean. Your first priority should be to get rid of that stuff, and the only foolproof way to do it is to format. You should probably get a firewall after that's done, and just be careful what sites you visit and download from.

In that case, you've got yourself into some deep shit. Can you afford to just reformat with nothing backed up? If there isn't any absolute necessities then I'd just throw in a fresh copy. You could alternatively figure out what you're infected with and google for help.

If you download a firewall like ZoneAlarm and block internet access to the spyware programs, then they can't send their info back to the hackers and no one is getting your private information.

Unless they manage to hide themselves "into" normal, everyday programs, in which case you're ****ed.

I cannot take the risk. I have downloaded so many programmes. Although these are normal and usual programmes, I don't know whether the sites, from which I downloaded programmes, are clean. There may be hidden virus within the normal programme. Viruses advance themselves faster than anti-virus programmes. They may, really, convert themselves into normal programmes(I have seem virus hiding in a image file).

Moreover, I cannot format my hard disc. If I do so, I have to download the whole steam, other games and programmes, like firefox and Office, again. Also, I cannot fully switch my new system into current settings. Formating the hard disc takes time also(reinstall the OS). What is more is that I have a lot of essays written by myself. They are invaluable. I cannot afford non-backup reinstallion. Formating Hard disc should not be a choice.

p.s. I have no money to buy firewall.

I have an idea. Why don't the bank phone the buyer so that the buyer can directly confirm every internet order? If so, I will not fear to buy game via Internet. And the hacker can do nothing even they get my credit card number.

Which one is better?

No, because you'll need a Steam login and that can be stolen. Formatting a disc takes around an hour (usually less). Re-downloading firefox, microsoft office, etc shouldn't be a problem. Those word documents, what I'd suggest is copy / paste the text and e-mail them to yourself. Just dedicate an afternoon or so to completely fix your computer, otherwise you're just putting anything you do on that computer in jeoparody.

and use a firewall, that way if any nasties sneak onto your computer you can at least block them from accessing the internet.

What's with the weird way you're talking, bbson_john?

It's a little creepy

D:

He's from Hong Kong :P

His language is probably scrabbled together from various cliche' hollywood films, hence the melodramatic tone. That's pretty impressive :)

Thank you for all the people who obliged. Where can I get a list in which there are locations that the games are going to export to?

Here is not an appropriate place for discussing the way I speak. Yet, I am curious. Tell me, if you can answer, what is a kathakasung? What lies beneath the word "kathakasung"?

Dude, clean up your PC before you play games. If you're infected with a any significant malware, then games should be on the last thing you'd want to do.

Even if you can find a boxed copy you will still have to create a Steam accout, which the keylogger will get your password to and your games will be stolen. Get rid of the malware.

Keylogger is only used by mature hackers. Mature hackers do not play game. They take money for buying others, not games.

Keyloggers were used by the hackers that stole the HL2 source code. So no, keyloggers are not just used by mature hackers.

While youre typing in your credit card details, just randomly click the task bar and type letters/numbers, then type in a couple more credit card numbers, then a few more randoms etc etc. but click a lot too... that way it would be impossible to tell what your details are if someone reads a log of what you typed (which is extremely unlikely anyway). Oh and do random spaces too.
Heres an example:
Name: hugh jass
Address: 123 fake street
CC number: 85674595854

Key log:
dsb s3489hugsdhdakjajdjsdairk dfs s389239 8jkjs 1sd3osi323sdjk89faw3 9ioweksd ihsducme strdfjkdfeejdf irt4894702 39018532 jhs dh hunj6few 7452 3dfjs9877 e37287566848 823 754

You could always unplug yourself from the intertr0n, type in your credit card number, then plug yourself back in and press Enter. D:

Type it in Notepad without the internet, then copy and paste it.

By the way i've never ordered games off Steam itself, so I don't know how the process works.

Well the windows clipboard isnt encrypted.. it would be easy to add anything on there to a log whenever you press paste. Actually with a keylogger it would be being logged as you type, so thats not very useful. Diy excryption like i described above is the only way youre gonna beat a keylogger.

So, what I have typed indeed is "dsb s3489hugsdhdak...". How can I extract the useful letters back to the bar?
