ok so i beat the game, the citadel is exploding, were about to die and then time stops. We have played alot of action and still no nothing. No explaining has been done. We dont know where the combine came from, or any aliens or anything! And we still got the G man just taking us around and throwing us into battles and we dont know who the f*ck he is. Im getting so pissed off because i dont know anything at all besides the fact I kill lots of stuff cuz its bad stuff that tries to kill me, thats basically all we know and I just wanna kno will we ever know just what the hell is going on with everything that ever happened.

This is how i felt at first too. But then when you think about it, this can only be good news because now theres definatly going to be alot of expansions and hopefully HL3.

LOL, Put thekeyboard down, step away from the computer.

Read the MANY threads about the possible theories :-)

i know the game was awesome but im just so anxious to know stuff. They better make a HL3 that explains everything that ever happened or Im going to take all of valve hostage.

Well the G-man says you will understand things. Also he doesnt give you a choice on your next job which kind of implies that it is probably related to this one. Maybe the combine buy your services to destroy humanity. Now that would be a laugh.

I'm sure it will all make sense to you in the course of... well, I'm really not at liberty to say.

Nice of him to step in to stop me from getting killed, but where was he the other times I got murdered by Striders or poison zombies?!

I rather like the whole feel of mystery! Not just in the ending but throughout the game.

I am geussing we will get bits and pieces from expansions as well (which will be coming out without a doubt) and the bigger picture will present itself. With HL2 it really feels like they've established the ground for more adventure to come.

At the end (whenever that is) of the saga we will get full explanation.

Well you were just being tested by the G-man... If you were killed by a measly poison zombie, then you obviously aren't worth saving... However if you pretty much anihilated the combines only means of reinforcing their position on Earth and basically turned the tables on the entire war, then perhaps you could still be of some use ;)

Valve's goal is for YOU to become Gordon. They have succeeded with flying colors. Gordon would feel the same exact way. He wouldn't know who he is fighting for, why he is fighting, and he doesn't know what the hell is going on. All the questions you are asking are the questions Gordon would be asking. Think about it, if the story was just TOLD to you, it wouldn't be any fun now would it?

Well, a lot of people were saying that after Half-Life 1, and they're probably saying the same things as we speak. I think we're never gonna know everything. Only scenario where that was happening is if the world was gonna end on a specific date and the Valve people decided to make a final Half-Life game. The story of Half-Life has a whole ****ing lot of potential, and I'm sure that Valve can make at least 3-4 games (if not infinite) from now, given the amount of creativity they've shown with the two first games.

Exactly. Why destroy any future potential of the Half-Life story by ending it now? It simply doesn't make any economic sense, and quite frankly I'm happy for such a high quality series to drag on for as long as possible. I'm sick of crap stories be thrown at us, why are we so damn keen to end the only good one to have popped up in a long while?
