Hi,

I bought one copy of HL2. I have two PC`s. Is it possible to play the same versions of HL2 on both computers with a lan connection for a MP game?
Or will it cause a Cd-Key conflict?
HL2 is playable without the DVD.

I'm fairly sure that you need two copies of HL2.
Although anyone running an Internet Cafe' can get a deal on 'em.

It may be possible.

Try disconnecting from your Internet, then logging into Steam on both computers.

Then try loading it up. Could work.

Unless you want to actually play on the Internet, that will NOT work. But I don't believe that is your intention.

yes, right, that wasn`t my intention. Simply playing in lan, 1 on 1

It should work since LAN games don't check SteamIDs. Sign on to one account (making sure to check the save password box) and exit if everything is up-to-date. Then, do the same with the other computer. Finally, disconnect them both from the internet without disconnecting them from your LAN (which you should be able to do with a software firewall like ZoneAlarm to avoid physically unplugging the WAN connection). They should both start into offline mode the next time you run Steam and it should let you start/join a LAN game.

you can use it on both PCs with one copy just log onto your steam accnt on the other PC

I'm pretty sure Valve said that one copy of HL2 can be used for LAN play, you don't need multiple copies.
