I was thinking I'd like to get Opposing Force, but I've heard problems about the new Blue Shift on Steam not working for people with the collector's addition, which is what I have. Buying it in a download online would never do good with my connection, and I don't even want to buy it at all if it wont work.

If it will, do you know if they still sell Opposing Force by itself on retail? Thanks.

if u have the gold or silver edition u dont need to buy Opposing force, it comes free with the steam in the STEAM BACK CATALOG, just double click it on play games and download it for free

Huh. I'll check that out, but as I said, I don't know about my connection... I'll try it though.

EDIT: Ok, I'm a little slow today. I don't have the silver or gold, I have the collector's edition (addition... I'm an idiot) so I don't have the package thing. But if I buy it, it also comes with Blue Shift which is neat, though I can just download that. But if I bought the package, would it put all those games onto my computer, or would I just be able to download the ones I want for free?

I think that problem with Blue Shift is that people need Half-Life, not Half-Life Source. I have the Collector's, so I have the source. Would I need to download the original Half-Life out of the package if I get it?

if you buy the silver/gold package, you get steams back catalog included with hl2, hldm, css, dod source, and everything else you can think of, its all included in the single price, just go to menu that u can buy games on steam and it explains it all also. sry i also got ocnfused cuz u said collectors edition, and i bought the gold but i also have a collectors edition box so i was confused on which you had, its prolly best just to buy the single games so u dont buy hl2 over again. up to u.

Are you even able to buy Opposing Force seperate?

u can purchase any of the games individually via Steam if u click the "browse games" button at the bottom of ur games list.
if u can't purchase via Steam...well then good luck.. i haven't seen Opposing Force on the shelves in stores recently.. not that i had been looking for it.

I've seen the HL platinum pack for like $30. That's like..3 new cd keys...

PS My RX-7 > Your Truck but < Your Bike.

If you own HL1 Original on Steam (NOT HL:Source), you're entitled to lots of ye olde Half-Life goodness. The Half-Life 2 Collectors Edition does not have a single Quake generation Half-Life series game in it, so no ye-olde Half-Life goodness for you

Buy a copy of Half-Life 1 original from somewhere. It's usually a teeny ammount of cash, and you'll be entitled to Opposing Force and Blue Shift. Getting HL Generations, Platinum or whatever is rendered expensive and entirely obsolete because the extras you get are all given to you by Steam for free anyway.

If u want it original , u can still see the original games sometimes availible in stores, just pop-in regular and u will find it. You can buy half-life generations if u want i think all of the originals are in that. Keep your eyes peeled
