:O

this will definately get me playing BF2 again:

Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release:

NEW FEATURES

* Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.
* Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.

co-op? but the sp gamemode is the same as mp? i dont really see the point, am i missing something here?

it'll be like in battlefield vietnam ...playing along side real players against the enemy (made up of bots with the uncanny ability to pull off one shot kills at extreme distances with a pistol)

too little too late I say, especially with GR:AW coming out soon with it's true Co-op

BF2 died for me a while ago

I find the co-op idea intriguing, and it has great potential to be fun (Hl2.netters vs. an MEC horde). But I'm actually a little more excited about the air dropping idea. Anything that adds even more insanity is good in my book. :D

hmm sounds more interesting now i think about, a team of 4 or 5 hl2netters playing MEC against 32 AI controlled US soldiers or vice versa...hopefully that will be possible in the server options.

Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.

^^ Wooooo! Finally those friendly jet AA missile's will stop tracking me

D:

The air-drop vehicle sounds intriguing, last I heard the commander could drop only Humvee's (Vodnik counterpart?), but anyway sounds interesting nonetheless :D

Not interesting at all. GRAW soon and System Shock 2 has the greatest COOP ever made ;P

I like the airdrop thing. Thats pretty.. decent.

Airdrop is cool, but Garfield is pretty much right. Nothing will save BF2 from all the new games coming out.

Never, BF2 is just good because no other game features that many different vehicles, weapons and classes in well detailed environments and support for lots of players. I am not saying it is'nt a great game, because it's exactly what it is but with minor adjustments it could have been so much better.

I'd be surprised to see BF2 go anytime soon. Theres all these predictions about they games that are going to "kill" it, but most of them aren't even LIKE it, and those that are we haven't even played yet.

BF2 could have been done so much better. I fail to understand the developers reasoning behind SO MANY THINGS.

Well it's nice to finally have a patch that shows some real changes and time went into.

I'm not saying the new games will kill it- but they will SERIOUSLY overshadow it.

It's built up a hefty online fan-base of players, i won't die with a click of your fingers or new release. A minor slump perhaps, but the game has such scope it'll be about for a while yet. Updates sound really good.

Bleh, I was expecting something more Coop-ey, not like the usual "coop" gamemodes in previous battlefield games. Playing with a friend with bots isn't my definition of cooperative... That would be more like... playing with a friend... without m203 bunnyhoppers :p

Exactly. I really don't care what EA does at this point, except for the occasional HL2.net match, I'm done with this game.

I could care less for coop. Where is that other game mode they removed from the game?

We'll see on that ;) Hopefully there won't be lots of new bugs brought in by this patch.

Haha, surefire way to win:

have a commander drop Essexes on all the enemy bases, and STAY THE F*CK AWAY

well as it is you're going to get the commander dropping vehicles (whichever they are) onto runways, helicopter pads and on vital routes. Its ripe for exploiting. I cant understand EA.

Well if you drop over enemy runway's, you can easily blow them up with some machine-gun fire or with ERYX. I mean if commander's are going to be idiot's you can't fault DICE for that, the whole idea sounds awesome to me honestly and I can deal with the minor idiocy if it even comes handy once or twice. I know a few times where I've had to hike along with my entire squad from point A to B without a vehicle for long distances, got to say that blew chunks... hopefully this airdrop vehicle will fix those instances.

I dont really care about co-op at this stage.

Vehicle dropping, although a handy feature, I can see being misused alot.

I'm pretty sure you could do COOP before the patch/right now. All you have to do is start up an SP game and check the IP in xfire.

Unless you wanted larger maps...

It would be nice if they could actually get the game to f*cking work before adding gimmicky useless as shit features.

It's f*cking working for a shitload of users.

:O

Yeh, BF2 has always worked fine for me... Only ever had the trouble with zig-zag AA and AT rockets going through a tank... though thats usually server side bugs.

As for the COOP... doubt i'll ever play it.
