it would be better that way wouldnt it
it would be easier for me also so I dont have to pay for games in one big hit

Liam, your estimation is pretty good except for the fact that the monthly subscription cost is more or less half of what you said. So basically according to your prices, you get all that stuff for ~£60, which is about half the price of getting all of them in retail. Also in addition to the games, you get all the bonus content for-subscribers-only that Valve has said to put out.

Myself I'm still probably gonna buy most of the games in retail - I want the boxes/CDs. I might try the subscription to try out something like TF2 (which is going to be another £25-30 title, right?) to see if I like it or not. I just wish Valve found a way to get boxes/manuals/CDs to those who buy through Steam, but I guess that's more or less impossible. I would like to support Valve directly by buying through Steam, but I still want those boxes and stuff. :(

I just want to buy a key and download the rest. Needs to be cheaper without all the pysical stuff. I would be happy to pay once off fees for new games using the source engine and get them through steam. Free communty mods still need to be avalilable too.

Edit:

I don't wont to pay for patches

Ok, so it's not always better to post in an existing thread than to start a new one :|

Try not to kick up really old threads :)
