I just bought a controller similar to a PS2 controller to play half-life 2 on. But my problem is that it is not recognizing the controller when I go to change the keys in hl2's menu options. I selected 'joystick' and 'joystick look' but all I can do is look around and move, i can't select any of the keys for the buttons, i.e. shoot, button 5, etc.

Can someone help please?

Did you configure it in Windows first?

I don't know much about Joypads, but you need to set it up from something in Control Panel, before the games will recognise it.

Well when I installed it all I did was as a test to see if it works, and it does fine. I thought I could just edit the keys from hl2's options??

If not, where do I go?

Why do people never search here Shodan? Our energies are wasted.

Check this post firstly how to configure a file to bind the keys to things to - HERE

The entire thread is HERE is you want to read it all.

Dude, that doesnt answer my question really. I'm not using an xbox controller ¬_¬

Do i have to hold your hand all the way? Your controller will have axis' and buttons on it yes? Well change the config file in order to suit your controller, is that hard to understand...

Sorry dude I am totally slow with PCs, lol. sorry if I'm being a pain or anything

So do I just change the button names? for example do I change 'right trigger' below to a button on my gamepad? Plus how will it recognize my pad?

dont bump threads. and why the hell would you want to use a pad?

Stop being so lazy and use google or something, why the hell should people have to sit and explain every little detail to you, its not that hard to work out for yourself.
