well so you need your cd key for hl again for steam when it leaves beta.... what if people browse the net for them and use keygens... uhh its they could register your steam id before you do!... how is this going to be prevented?

ohh and for the sake of the thread title yarrr

what if people browse the net for them and use keygens...

first of all, you wouldnt put your cd key up on the internet in the first place, and second a keygen wouldnt give them your CD-key number

As is true with the cd-key system, it would be possible to pirate one player , but not multi-player.

why is 1 player still pirateable?
(only if the single player no internet connection still exists as a buyable option)

DLing the single player only version (that people without a internet connection buy at the store)

and loading it will not require you to have a internet connection
and therefore not verify with steam.

But then the pirates are still screwed for and any online play, tfc, cs2, etc.

if a mod wants to delete this post thats fine.

keygens work... I have used them for old non-net games because i lost there case.. also i have seen idiots post there cd-key yes as sad as that is

gah...
It seems valve did a good job getting rid of MP piracy, but face it, there is NO WAY to kill SP piracy, simply because you cannot release an SP game that requires an internet connection to verify it...

i wanna be owned, will they wipe my ass and feed me... oh and i want my own lil house in the backyard :)

"PWNED"!!!

the word of tards

i guess you missed the whole thing about single player steam enabled games needing an internet connection huh?

key gens work for many games. Try finding one that works with Half-Life multiplayer, THEN post more idiotic questions. In the meantime go outside or something, jesus

.....:dozey: Im not gona bother with anything but posting this

Try posting something useful to your 'argument' for a change, boy - like a link to a key gen for Half-Life, to give some evidence why you started this retard thread to begin with.

it's not going to work unless it's an actual cdkey.. singleplayer keys work because they are based off of an equation.. a multiplayer one would not work because it's completely different, it checks for authenticity with a server.

listen, a keygen Could theoretically generate a valid HL cd-key, but the chances are one in billions at least, and the chances that it would generate YOUr key specifically are damn near ****ing impossible.

anyways, this thread is pointless for exactly that reason.

BTW, most of the keys a keygen will make will only allow you to install and play single player, seeing as they're not in the WON database online play does not work.

i hope you feel educated.

and my point is with steam people could claim the generated keys before there actual owners take them

thatd be Very hard to do

instead of a cdkey equation cracker , what about something that fooled steam into thinking it was confirmed, or connected and A-oked? if such a thing were devised, it would get killed fast by updates or something : D
