I'm waiting on the reviews. The fact that it's been in development a long time is reassuring, but two years ago, the officially released gameplay footage was absolutely shocking. Sure, that was two years worth of development ago, but I still don't trust a company with judgement poor enough to put out such media.

It's a busy year for FPS after all. 'The next big thing' can be waited for if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. isn't it. Waiting is just a fact of life when you're a gamer discussing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in a Half-Life 2 forum.

Make that a resounding 'hell yes'. I love FPSs that have either a creepy/horror storyline, one in which you're the only man standing before an alien race bent on destroying humanity or, even better, both.

So what if it doesn't support DX10? You do realize how long this game has been in development, right? It started out as a DX8 game.

You are aware that STALKER has story branching and over 8 different endings right? I doubt you'll be able to play it through in one day.

I am actually more excited for multiplayer here, but the SP should be pretty cool too hopefully. I can't imagine bugs will be that bad as much of the stuff that caused the bugs has been removed anyway.

And yeah, who the hell cares about DX10??? Are there even any non-beta drivers for the 8800 yet?

the multiplayer is fun but I can see people losing interest quickly ..the buy system allows players to quickly dominate other players because much like counterstrike you need money to buy weapons but unlike CS it's much more slower paced: there's a million places to hide in any given map, so you can easily camp your way to the best weapons/armor

MP has never been the selling point of STALKER, the hype has always been about SP, and Good for you Popz, your loss for missing out on a game that is getting mainly 9/10s from magazines and groups around Europe.

Hmm...well, hunters (stalkers) do just that I guess--camp out in a great hiding spot and take their sweet time getting kills, so this sort of thing doesn't strike me as being as much of an ass-tweaker as campers in CS...we'll see though. :E

The only FPS games I get into anymore are ones that let you attack different scenarios any way you want. Aka, non linear, quasi sandbox, whatever. This game sounds like it's trying to deliver that so I'm all aboard. Maybe it will deliver, maybe it won't. My PC is gathering dust right now so the timing is perfect.
