playing game with garrys mod

ok im intrested in playing garrys mod. i was going to buy the game but nobody around me has a regular copy of half life 2. either GOTY or episode 1. so..... i decide to download it. yes pirate this great game. unleast until i find a the $20 regular version. after it finished, its just all kinds of files with a launcher that allows you to play the game. it works but im intrested in playing garry's mod im going to hold off on the actual game until i get a legit version .I cant play it because i have these files that wont just install like a regular version of half life 2. when i install garry mod it it tells me i need a steam! do i have all the files to make my own installer to make this disaster into a version that acts like the orginal cd, so i can play garrys mod. or does somone know a trick or crack so i can play garry mod or am i out of luck and need to wait until i can find a legit version. hope somone can help.

you cant play any mod witout steam and hl2 noob just buy the the damn game. im sure you can scrounge up 20 bux easily

don't bother coming to this forum asking for help with a pirated copy of the game. I don't give a damn if you say your going to pay for it. Go away.

i already bought the regular half life 2 on ebay, because like i told you there are no original copies of the game (that i can find around my area)! only GOTY and in october:the platinum, and both are in the $40 range. I dont want these because most of those extras are on episode 1 too. which i will get when i finish haf life 2. why pay $60 for 2 game when i can pay $40 for 2. i just wanted to play garrys mod ASAP and did not want to wait a week to recieve my copy from ebay. thats all. thats why the qustion was about garrys mod and not an "ingame" question. i appoligze

This is really dumb. I don't know what you did, but if you bought the game legally at any point you could never have missed out that you needed steam, even if the CD-keys were bad, therefore it's bullshit. There is absolutely no way possible to play garry's mod without a legal version of Half-life 2. What happened to common sense?
