Portal Theory - Combine?

Alright I thought about this in the Kliener = Orange jump suit balding man thread.

Remember that guy you meet at the train station at the beginning of HL2. He tells you not to drink the water, theres something in it, and it makes you forget.

So this guy is either, 1. Paranoid or 2. Is telling the truth.

Assuming he's telling the truth, what if the combine randomly selected certain citizens, using whatever is it there trying to use to make people forget, and turning them into Test Subjects? They could easily trick someone into actually believing they are working for Aperture Labs. Like I said in the other thread, what kind of company would throw test subjects into situations like these were you are forced to participate or death? That way you ensure that everything is tested. Sounds like something the combine would do

How do we know? Like Big Fat Cow is saying, these 2 portal technologies are completely different :| Plus, thats why its a test facility. You test things. (Also they seem to possess some knoweldge of basic teleportation like Kliener does, I mean the teleporter you and alyx used in the citadel wasn't a catapult or something :|)

Well... yea true all we know is they don't possess the intergalactic teleportation technology that Kleiner knows how to create...

I'd like to point out.
Combine posses teleportation to travel planets, however not to travel from one point on a planet to another point on the planet until a part in HL2. Mossman was leaking the technology to the combine. Thus the Combine got it and then there was an explosion as you were leaving, and you did a slow teleport.

Of course Nova Prospekt exploded so unless they had already sent the data to the citadel it was lost. Of course the citadel exploded so unless they sent the data off-world (the data-packet maybe) or to another city on Earth they're back to square 1.

Now that I think of it the only portal we've seen similar to the ones in Portal is the Combine one at the top of the citadel.
