Problem jumping in Death Match

I'm having a problem jumping over objects in Deathmatch which I can normally jump over/onto in the single player version. While playing I can watch others jump over/onto objects which block my path. (i.e. knocked over file cabinet) I'm using the default keyboard setup, and like I said it functions fine in single player mode.

When I hit jump (spacebar) the screen quickly shifts up and down, but not very far, as if jumping while crouched. and I remain blocked by the object.

I've searched this forum and google with no luck. Does anyone else have this same problem? Or better yet a fix? I purchased and installed HL2 via steam, if that makes any difference.

can only jump about a cm off the ground

same for every 1 m8

Just do a jump+duck.. Then you can get over everything

But yesh, the normal jump is very weak.
