Ok. It wont effect the game play will it.

my system is:

motherboard:BIOSTAR TForce4SLI NF4SLI 939
CPU: AMD 64 ATHLON X2(duelcore)3800+
Mem:CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB)
DVDRW/CDRW - DVDRW BENQ DQ60 BK
Video: nVidia GeForce 7800GT
HDsystem: WesternDigital 74GB @ 10,000RPM(master), WesternDigital 250GB @ 7,200RPM

It never has for me, but there are no promises. You've got a great card, I'm sure it will be fine.

lol absolutely not. You can run everything to the max.

Hmm, my card is a GeForce FX 5200 - is that a great card or is it shite? It's served me well for Doom 3, HL2 and Prey (albeit slowly).

It's quite old, but if you keep some options on medium, you'll be fine. You might miss out on some cool effects, though.

I've never had a problem with it, and Steam moans about my drivers all the time.

Nope you'll be fine. I used to have an FX5500 and it played fine with everything on medium and a few on high. Only certain areas will give you lag. There is a level (don't wanna spoil it) where the whole room is water, now that will give you a fit. It was almost unplayable for me from the lag, it probably didn't get above 10 FPS. I had to keep looking up, away from the water to walk around without it being like a slideshow. :P

ight thats good to hear...anyone know when the next nVidia cards are coming cus i think im gonna get two

You've got to be kidding, you don't need a new video card. Yours kicks twice as much ass as mine does already.

I used to have that card.
Then I got the ATi Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600XT

Basically all Steam is telling you with that is that you're running old drivers. It won't affect gameplay at all if you ignore it, but you might want to look into updating your drivers anyway. Drivers can increase the performance of your card and are a very important part of regular computer maintanance.

'Course, this is coming from a guy who don't update unless it's 100% necessary, say if it fixes some major problem or if system performance is decreasing, or right after a reformat or something. But you might want to look into it just in case. Even if you bought a new card you'd have to keep up-to-date on drivers.

You're not gonna die if you don't update your drivers(unless they're from 2003 or something), but it doesn't hurt. Once you download them, uninstalling the old drivers and reinstalling the new ones is a 10 minute process at most.
